09-10 Z owners, what is price for trading up.

I also say #5. I can't imagine trading in my 09 (which has been problem free so far, and modded the way I like it) on a new, similar looking Z, AND pay more money. I agree with the suggestion of waiting to see if you like the Z35, then consider trading in/up.

Disclaimer: If your current Z is starting to develop expensive maintenance issues, then I say go with brand new, full warranty, 2014 Lotus Evora ;-)

The only "issue" I've had with my '09 is the rear hatch springs - a very minor inconvenience.

Also, keep in mind that it's far more likely for someone who has an issue with their Z to come on here and post about it than for someone who is perfectly satisfied with their Z to come on here and say "I'm not having any problems with my Z!". In other words, it's easy to get a negatively biased view about issues by looking at posts on a forum - there's a bigger picture that you won't necessarily see here.

Yeah, honestly I don't understand why you would consider trading for essentially the same car unless there is a specific issue with your current Z or you are missing a feature that you really, really want and can't add cheaply yourself.

But to each his own ...

You could talk yourself into buying some other car that isn't a Z and then hate it and then buy a new Z a few months later while losing thousands of dollars in depreciation... But I don't recommend it.

I get all that, especially the minority in forums and the preponderance to bitch instead of praise...I was referring to the steering lock issue (which I think was a recall issue), and the need to add the oil cooler in 11 or 12? Those are things that seem to have been figured out in later iterations of the Z34 build that weren't worked out upon initial release.

But I am on the forum and I've had zero problems with my Z...a 2014...that I've had for 68 days...so chalk one up for praise on the forum! Wow, just realized that is an average of 29 miles every single day of ownership!

How much heavier is the 2014 over the 2009? So from that stand point you are getting more car.

Instead of a 2014, I would much rather take my '09 to the track, get professional instruction every day, during two weeks off work.

Personally, I'd choose #5; to me there are not enough changes to warrant a '14.

#5...bc there isn't a point and I have made the car mine and unique. Plus, I honestly do not want to have to do all the work again, hahaha.

Many of us avoided the steering lock issue by removing the fuse (or cutting the brown wire) before it froze.

I don't track my Z or regularly drive it hard, so I had no need for the oil cooler anyway.

Bottom line: There are many '09 and '10 Z34s out there with very happy owners.

Friday nights almost here. So I say #2 if you have extra discretionary money to spend, as a 2014Z depending on price, can still a great bang for the buck sports car. However, if your finances are tight, #5.

There is a TSB for that! Take to the dealer

Oh yeah, I know that. And did it. The "fix" lasted for about a year; one of these days I may try the "penny" fix (it's such a minor thing I haven't bothered yet).
