I have seen all kinda cars as beaters in the sense that most of us call a beaters as Read T stated prior, these people here in DFW got too much money on there hands. I have seen Benz beaters, Z's 350 and 370, newer Lexus etc, all with plenty dings and scratches.

My first beater was a 1980s sentra that we called the "field car" and we'd rally it around in cow pastures. One day it went halfway up a tree. Front end was pretty much gone but it still ran fine. It was missing a few gears and most of the interior. /beater

another way to look at it, in my eyes a beater is what you'd take to LeMons or Chump Car

It's a car... My dad came to me in the morning and said "I got into an accident last night with your car. I didn't want to tell you because I didn't think you'd sleep"
My word for word reply: "I don't give a fúck. Shít happens." And I drove to work, lol.

I love/hate my car (for obvious reasons) but I don't give a FÚCK about it compared to any family member or any friend.

And if I can get my day to day stuff in a fun car, I'm going to. If I'm gonna cry about every door ding, every swirl, every paint chip... It's not worth it. I'd rather become a Mormon and deal with 5 wives.

At least my chances of getting laid every night will go up.

I wouldn't call a DD car a beater. One can drive their car back and forth to work and stay take care of it (such as myself).

To me, a beater is basically a car you don't care about. It's meant to serve a purpose (usually a dirty, rough kind of purpose), and you honestly don't care if it survives or not, because you can always replace it with another cheap piece of junk if it dies.

Ideally, a good beater would be something like an old corolla or civic. They're tough enough to take the beating and the neglect and still keep rolling, but if it made its last gasp, you wouldn't cry too much over it.

Chevy cavaliers make good beaters too. You just have to replace them more often...

I just saw this 2009 on Autotrader for $9,990. Ad says it runs and drives. Anyone have a 370z beater that can compete with this?

I beat on the Z, but it's not a beater :driving:

I try to take care of her and keep her as clean as I can for a DD. I've even hand polished her a few times over the years. Definitely not a beater. My wife's 2013 Acura ILX is more of beater to me - it's a lease, so I pretty much treat it like a rental car :icon17:

my 2001 tacoma 4x4 w/201k miles on it is my beater. never would classify a Z as a beater
