Look at these pics.

The first picture, the gauges have smaller hash marks around the outside, it looks alot more detailed

The 2nd picture has no small hash marks....

Whats up???

nogoodname 12-26-2008 05:03 PM

interesting...lol

notice how the metric one doesnt show the MPH at all...lol

Crash 12-26-2008 05:04 PM

Possibly sports package vs. Base?

Also, this could be just the difference between different progress levels in their designing the car in the first place.

nogoodname 12-26-2008 05:05 PM

it could just be the Japanese model and the American model

Crash 12-26-2008 05:06 PM

Right-o... Damn Japs always gotta be different.

nogoodname 12-26-2008 05:07 PM

^^ HEY, without them...we're nothing

Crash 12-26-2008 05:08 PM

Not true... Without them, we're driving corvettes. :(

nogoodname 12-26-2008 05:09 PM

^^ nope, not even...we're driving corvettes for half a year and the other half in the shop for repairs

SPete 12-26-2008 05:10 PM

Second pic the tach goes till 180 km\hr..

those Japanese and their speedlimits?

nogoodname 12-26-2008 05:24 PM

so back to the gauges.....maybe American safety laws call for the little dashes while the Jap's don't

Crash 12-26-2008 05:26 PM

Wow... I had no clue about that. That's a shame because the Jap version looks a lot cleaner.

I wonder why we need to know our RPMs in 100th's. I could care less about that... I just need to know where the 500 and 1000 RPM marks are.

nogoodname 12-26-2008 05:28 PM

Japs like the whole modern Zen theme, simple and elegant design

Crash 12-26-2008 05:28 PM

Well, I'm with them on that.

TheManTheMyth 12-26-2008 05:36 PM

No complaints on my half about the vette....got an 05 C6 and love it...but hey...beauty is in the eye of the beholder lol

Crash 12-26-2008 05:42 PM

Whoa... Don't get me wrong, the C6 is a BEAUTIFULLY sculpted car. But lets face it, it's a little worse than hit-n-miss with GM when it comes to reliability.

However, GM always lacks in the interior department... Rolling windows down in the Solstice makes you feel a bit retarded since the switches are by your elbows in an already tight cabin. Corvettes get a slightly better interior because of the name, but nothing impressive to me.

TheManTheMyth 12-26-2008 06:50 PM

No i agree...materials in the interior are definitely lacking...but love driving it....ls2 has a ton of power as everyone knows already...The 350z interior actually is similar in the fact that the quality was lacking....but from what I can tell that problem has been taken care of in the 370...all while keeping the price down....which is why we are all here...there is no denying that the American cars are inferior to most all the japanese and european makes in general...shame

Crash 12-26-2008 06:52 PM

Yeah, it is a shame..

I do like the corvette gauges though. But in the end, I actually like the 370's gauges more. I like the tach being front and center.

TheManTheMyth 12-26-2008 06:53 PM

absolutely....only plus for the vette is the heads up display...love that thing haha

BanningZ 12-26-2008 07:03 PM

I wish our gauges looked like those. Damn American metric avoidance.

Crash 12-26-2008 07:20 PM

Yep... Heads up display rocks... My ex-gf had a grand prix with the HUD. She'd get drunk and I'd drive. Good times! Love it too. Too bad GM won't put it in anything other than the Vette now and Nissan isn't putting it anything.

Agreed! I hate the imperial system.

nogoodname 12-26-2008 09:37 PM

^^ about time I heard an American say that....LOL

well, if the gauges give you the info clearly......it's good enough...i don't like the gas tank light bar.....i want the needle gauges

Crash 12-26-2008 09:53 PM

Yeah... I prefer analog gauges too. And by the way, 90% of American scientists use the metric system and I know a LOT of people that'd rather use the metric system. WAY easier than this multi-base crap... "base 12, base 24, base 3" What ever happened to base 10??? LOL
