Saying So-Long
2 Attachment(s)
Well - time came and went. I moved into a new house and now I have a bit of a commute on the 405 Freeway. The Z roadster was just not cutting it for so many reasons.
So - after a year and two months and 6421 miles - she is gone. Traded her for a 2014 Q50S . We also have a 2012 FX. I truly do love Infiniti. The Q is my 5th Infiniti since 2008. I got totally raped on the trade in...it was ridiculous how little the Z held it's value. Had it on Auto Trader for 5 months and not a single hit. I got almost 8k off the Q - so that helped. It was a great car - but at 50 just not really for me. I am, however, getting a GT-R with my year-end bonus! Great forum - it was fun while here. |
I just had a similar issue trading my roadster in a few days ago. I really had to fight to get closer to what I wanted and still not 100% happy.
|
So long. Q50 looks like a great car.
Did you buy the roadster new? If it was only a year old and you traded in to the dealer it makes sense you got raped. Also, In most parts of the country roadster/convertible sales plummet in summer. A few cars dealers I had as clients do want convertibles and especially roadsters after May. |
Q50's are nice. I'd pick that for a long commute too. I'm sure you considered just keeping the Z for a weekend toy since you got so little in trade. Hope the GTR thing works out for you. Now that would be a blast! Good luck.
|
I bought it new = but as it was a '12 still on the lot in May of 13 - I got 10k off sticker. Still - sticker was over 50, so the math was never good.
The Infiniti dealer also owns the Nissan dealer next door. Their guy basically apologized but said they can't give Zs away right now, especially roadsters. So it was the best he could do. thought about keeping it - but I really want a GT-R. I realized I'm not a vert guy after all. lol expensive lesson. oh, well. Overall I don't really care. Love the new ride...so that is all that matters. |
Perfectly understandable decision. I have a couple of cars a truck and my Z. This gives me options if I need more than a two seater. A few of these guys have a Z as a DD because it is a fun car to drive but not really the most practicle for DD duty. I use mine as a DD because I love to drive sporty cars and the Z is very nice on the highway. What worries me is why these cars dont sell well. I seems the market must be saturated for them.:shakes head:

Already so soon ??
I do like that Infinity tho |
Sorry to hear you had to get rid of your Z :tiphat:
Feel free to stick around the forum. I'd love to hear some details of how you're liking the Q50S and see more pics  My buddy just got the Q50S Hybrid and raves about it. |
My wife drives a G37s. I've grown to like the performance of the sedan, I have no doubt the Q will grow on you. I would love a Q50. Have fun!

Great choice in picking a Infiniti Q50 Sport version. A lot of car for a great
price. enjoy your nice new car and stay around and visit with all of us in the future. GL... :hello: |
They raped you, huh?
You're huge, you should've raped them back, lol Nice to meet you, hope you stick around, I can't imagine the platform has changed that much |
Sucks to see the Z go. But congrats on the new Infiniti!
-M- |
Sucks man, enjoy the q50 it is a sweet ride
How bad was the rape on the Z??, curious minds with verts want to know the rape that may come their way. |
5 months without a hit. That stinks too.

Hmmmm, maybe your story is a good lesson for me! Recent new, first time Z owner and loving it! It is my DD, but my ride to work is under 12 miles one way and I can choose highway or through 35-45 mph streets, so I can mix it up. Although mine is still less than 1 month old, I was already contemplating what type of Z I would want to trade into in 3-5 years, with roadster topping the list, followed by nismo.
|
It hurts to admit this...
Roadster Touring, Sport and Nav.- Sticker was 50950.00. 6421 miles. Full sound deadening. LEDs Stillen sides. Nismo wheels with Bridgestone PP S04s. Stubby antenna. tinted heads and tails. Stillen plate relocator. Stillen front hood struts. Illuminated kickplates. Only issues i had were the top was replaced the day after i got it - it ripped the first time i put it down. I'm assuming from sitting on the lot for over 6 months. And squeeky left rear brake. 28k. How's that for bent over? Quote:

Any day a Z goes away is a sad day :(
Lol. Enjoy your new ride brotha! |

I was offered a 1700 mile 2013 boxster s for 59k just a few weeks ago. Sticker of $81,900. |

Don't feel bad though, happens to the best of us - dealer will always rape on trade in no matter what. Even if it seems like you just got the best deal in the world, the dealer still raped you somehow. A buddy of mine just traded in a 1 year old cayman S that he paid around 75k, for an srt viper (sticker at 105k), only gave him 45k for cayman "market saturation and standard sport car depreciation" Now that is what I call rape. |

Congrats, the Q50S is a great car! :)
|
That's weird on roadster resale value. My dealers are offering me only $2000 less than what I paid for my Mini Roadster S new and I have 25k miles on the clock. Guess mini roadster sells better used? I'm looking at trading it in on 3 series BMW that they are offering below invoice pricing as well.
|
congrats on the Q50S.
i was down in nissan hq last month checking out the skylines. they were doing an event with all the variations. nice car indeed for the commute. |
Hey Parkstr8,
Stealership rapes everyone. I bought a 2012 Honda Coupe loaded and the Honda place bought it back from me 500 over what I owed on it after about a year. I almost went down to CarMax and had them price it but I knew they were in it to rip me off too. So I traded my new Honda in on the used Z, but it was what I'd been looking for, Coupe, Sport, Navi, AND manual, low mileage and low price, haha. The manual part was hard to find in the upper full feature price range. Usually found Base and Sport with MT but without NAV. In my area, all the $$ 370's had AT. I didn't get NAV for the map but for the cockpit cool factor. Enjoy your Q50, they're fine *** cars. |
