Sold my 370Z

I had my 2012 for a 1 1/2 years. I bought it for $28500 with 22,000Mi. I sold it to Carmax for $25000 with 45,000Mi.

2012 370Z M6, Silver, Touring Sports Package, Nav, Camera, Sports Suspension

Reason for selling: Blind Spots, M6 not fun to shift for a guy in his 40's (and ATs are getting much more advanced), Depreciation and knowing when the next model comes out I am screwed more, I felt embarrased driving my "sons" car.

I put it on CL, AT, and here with 0 responses in 2 weeks
not even a low ball offer. I make a quick decison to take the offer from Carmax and run.

I am looking at a luxury coupe like a Lexus or Infinity I can buy for cash.

$194/mo for a low miles used car driven 1,277 miles per month (aka 15k/year). Not bad, all told. I think you made a great decision to Carmax it. And even with your disappointments, you had a pretty good car for a budget price.

Carmax

They never test drove it or had it inspected. They opened the hood and said "Still under factor powertrain warranty...ok talk to you in a minute..." Needless to say it will need front pads and ofcourse rotors. The clutch has more than normal wear and tear :driving:

Its trade in value should have been $23,000 (Depending on the car lot) atleast thats what I was offered. I was shocked at the offer.

Yeah if I had to keep the car stock; I'd not want to keep it.

Troyz, Nothing wrong with getting a Lexus or Infiniti. I did it as well in mt 40's. Now that I'm in my 50's, I realized that driving a car that makes me feel good while driving it, is what it's all about.

The comments of mid life crisis or did you buy that car for your son, doesn't bother me one bit now. I enjoy my 6mt sport Z with an exhaust, every single time I take it out of my garage :driving:

Maybe we'll see you back here when you turn 50 :tiphat:

jdsto 06-25-2014 04:40 PM

i'm 47 and I just got rid of my Lexus to get a 6M 370z, and I commute for 2 hours in heavy traffic everyday. The Z just puts a stupid grin on my face despite its short comings in practicality. Mind you I have never owned an automatic.

Drakonis GTR 06-25-2014 04:46 PM

Best of luck to you with getting the new car. Excellent choice with either a Lexus or an Infiniti.

DOOMMONKEY777 06-25-2014 04:51 PM

You see Z + traffic = having a bad time.

We are all here to have a good time, so lets go driving not in traffic + Z =good time.

jdsto 06-25-2014 04:59 PM

??? What car + traffic = fun

Fuzzzy 06-25-2014 05:00 PM

Troyz,

It's just a phase you're going through. You'll outgrow it.

I'm not going to post my age, but I owned a couple of Z's starting in the early '80's. Traded the second one for an Infiniti in '94. Drove it 10 years before trading for a Toyota.

I recently "gave" the Toyota to my teenager and bought myself a new Z. I haven't even had a thought of being embarrassed for driving my son's car. I am enjoying driving again for the first time in years. The kid will have to pry the Z from my cold dead fingers :D

Hope you find the car you're looking for!
