Question for Non-Sport Owners
 

I've had my Touring/Sport 370Z just over two weeks now and already scraped the heck out of the front chin spoiler. I cannot even get up my driveway without it scraping and have hit it on some large speed bumps as well. I think as soon as I get it up on ramps for the first oil change I'm removing it. For the non-Sport Model owners: Does your car have the flexible air diffusers in front of the front tires ? I suspect they may be rubbing as well and wonder if they are a critical part of the aerodynamics or air flow for brake cooling ? If not off they come.

Yes, non-sport models have the rubber air diffusers. And yes, they rub on stuff all the time.

Yeah I have a non-sport and the scraping I hear is usually those little suckers. No need to take them off though, I got my Z up on ramps just fine with them on - they flex a lot.

Its plastic and it appears to be replaceable with ease. so dont stress. I use it as a good measuring tool.

You get so paranoid about rubbing it, it teaches you how to be extra carefull.

Yeah, hearing a scrape is an assurance that you're going too fast or not being careful enough.

That said, there are speed bumps in one neighborhood area near my house that I'm not sure I'll be able to go over without scraping something in addition to the chin spoiler.

^ i know that feeling, in my area the city installed several speed bumps in the middle of the street to discourage street racing. Well they made them a bit to long and a bit to high so that one time while driving with friends in my car (Mazda 3) i bottomed out between the wheels and got stuck. Everybody had to get out of the car so i could get off the bump. Needles to say i avoid those streets now. But for the OP i wouldn't remove it completely, i would just leave it on till it grinds down to a level that wont scrape anymore lol.

If the flexible air diffusers in front of the tires rub, that won't bother me too much. But the chin spoiler rubs every time I back out of my garage no matter how slow I go or try to back out at an angle as soon as the car clears the garage door. You may be right about leaving it on until it wears down enough that it no longer scrapes. I have a set of Rhino ramps and it should be interesting to see if I need to put some 2x6 pieces of wood in front of the approaches to clear the spoiler when I do my first oil change soon.
