Borg Warner T5. That is what they used in the 280zx turbo cars. I have one in my 1975 280zt car. The stock Nissan 5-speed would just grenade under full boost. I went through 3 before I finally found a T5. I had to bend the heck out of the shifter to make it fit.

Went to my tint guy finally...35 sides, 15 rear.

Just an interesting note...every ride ive bought the last 30 or so years Ive made SoCal my home, the very first thing Ive done or have had done is 5% tint all around (except windsield of course).

It wasnt until 10 years ago I was pulled over solely for the window tint, bullshnit fixit ticket, I personally believe should be an incidental ticket, ya know, the kind ya get fir being pulled for other things, like "hey, you were speeding" or "you didnt come to a complete stop" kinda thing. But being pulled over just for tint is a chicken schnit ticket in my book. So, anyhow, I would go to my tint guy, let him know the deal.."I'll be back this afternoon, just gotta get this signed off".
This has happened enough that the last time was...the last time, to hithe my wifes and my rides. Mind you never got this while infracting any other oart if the law.
Well, today I chose the more conservative tint mentioned above, hopefully this will be different than my 5% tint experiences over the course of the last decade.

Flippin California

One of my sons found this transmission in a wrecking yard a few years ago. The T5 was indeed the tranny used in the 1982 and 1983 280ZX turbo.

I traded him a 51 inch Sony rear projection TV for it. He got 3 or so year's worth of use from the TV before it died. When it did die, he and some friends took it out in the country and used it for target practice with their AR-15s.

I sat on this transmission for a long time and finally goat around to getting it checked out by my transmission guys. It was in rough shape.

It took then about 7 months to find all the parts they needed for a rebuild (synchros, bearings, seals, input and main shafts). 900 dollars later, I got it back.

For the install, I have a shift lever already fabricated, along with a short shifter. I also am having a drive shaft fabricated.

Rep Freely.

Plan to go outside & wash up the ~Z~....covered in pine tree pollen; from some crazy warm weather.
Now it just has to warm up a tad.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...868a373229.jpg
