VDC and U turns newbie observation
Yesterday I did a slightly fast U turn and it almost felt like someone applied the brakes hard and slowed the car right down. I was not aware that the VDC system on our platform was such a big governor. Found it pretty amusing as it slowed the car right down to prevent the back end from kicking out.
Just found this thread also after posting, sorry. http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...es-vdc-do.html |
Are you in anyway related to our good brother Minsu? :bowrofl:

With a little practice, you'll be pulling those off flawlessly with VDC off.
In b4 "I got charged with stunt driving" thread. |

Its a shame the vdc is like an on off switch. When I drove my brothers mx5 back when he bought it new in 2006 I drove it almost sideways on a round about and the tractions control and esp assisted in making me a shi* driver look cool. Where as my own ride at the time an E36 euro spec m3 with nothing more than a real LSD and abs killed me almost a few times. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk |
Last week I saw a young guy in a 350Z do an "accelerated" U turn in a heavy traffic area, he looked like a tool, tires spinning, noise, throwing his back end all around, etc.
No reflection on you LB, I've experienced the same thing after turning right and shifting from 1 to 2, the traction light comes on briefly and I feel the engine slow down momentarily till the ECU considers the slip event over. |
It's not nearly as bad in the 370, as it is in the 350.

People take VDC too crazy and this is just my opinion, nothing too serious. If you never driven an old camaro or mustang, or any RWD car with some bawls, then I understand. However, the 370z isn't that bad of a car. It's not a wild monster as people make it out to be. You gotta know when to let off the gas, or control the throttle basically. Obviously if your tires are spinning, and your gas pedal foot is flooring the pedal, I would not assume you'll have any control over any RWD. If you really want practice on that kinda stuff maybe you should try rally racing or whatever, off road type courses.
The whole point of this, VDC on is only meant for people who don't know how to control their car, none the less a mid grade sports car. And no, I ain't saying the 370z is slow either :P |

dang if i still had my highschool car it would be eligible for antique vehicle status... :ugh:
|
Well, I think my CRX is turning 25 years old next year, so isn't 25 years old a antique? Honestly, I only owned it for half those years :ugh:
|
High school car? Not sure I would want a fiat 600, even if it did have an 850 spyder engine in it.

Antiques at 25,,I call old banger.

I always live in the dry sunny weather climate. I wasn't refering to you PENGUINS!!!!!! :owned: I honestly forgot about snow since I haven't seen it in a long time. Obviously you want to have some kind of traction control on during snow and rain, or whatever terrain. :iagree: But for normal weather operations, all I'm saying is, when vdc is off, as long as you are not an idiot, or inexperienced driver, you'll be fine. With VDC on, good luck when you need your power the most for any quick thinking situation though. |

when it's dry it can be off no problem, i was only implying when raining or snowing :D |
the only time i use vdc is over an icy bridge. but then i dont drive my Z in the winter.
|
why bother driving a rwd car if you cant wiggle her behind. just get a FWD or AWD. :shakes head:
