Thank goodness you told me!

Yes, avoid the rev up 06...

If you don't end up with the 370, I would go for the 07+ 350s with the HR. It may not look like much on paper, but they have a much better engine.

If you have to go with the DE, it's still a great car, enjoy:tup:

DUDE!
RESEARCH before you purchase something especially something expensive like a car! You should've already known the pros and cons. :shakes head:

Well,

I was going to buy an 06' 350z today, 10k miles on it every option rays, heated leather, spoiler, navi all for the same price as my car and my payments were going to be 10.00 more a month!

So they ******* sold it right before I was ready to come up there!

Does anyone know like on 350z forums if they have any car going like this or anywhere close to them, Im not sure If I'll be able to find one like this again :(

if your going to get a 350z. At least get a 07 or 08. nobody will argue with me on this i suspect.

I go through this with my friend who wants Leather seats but cant afford them.

I say whats better, driving a car that you want with cloth seats or having no car becuase you wanted leather seats you cant afford.

if you cant afford this car, why dont you get rid of the idea of touring.

I understand why every one wants sport due to syncro rev but touring is not a nessecity.

Agreed.

Op, if money is tight go for a base 370. The only thing that can not be replicated is the SRM, everything as you can add as you go.

You can get a base 370 at invoice right now, you will get a brand new car with warranty and a measurable bump in all things performance related compared to the 350.

If you have your heart set on sports or touring or both and can't swing it, wait to pick up a used 370 with the options you desire

Personally, I wouldn't go back to a 350 unless you are in love with the styling and I would only get an HR

ppark7384 09-12-2009 08:35 PM

The people saying get 07+ why? I say 03-05. First gen motor got more torque, has more after market support, and cheaper.

Sardis 09-12-2009 08:45 PM

I owned a first gen. Yes it was fun being thrown back in your seat, but that was just do to the torque spike more than anything.

It's not that much more torque and the DE falls flat after that torque hits.

People complain about the harshness in the HR and 3.7 HR, but the DE was worse and had such a small redline, it just wasn't that fun to push it after the torque fell off.

Also, yes there is more aftermarket support, but it's fairly meaningless unless you are going to boost the engine. The DE did not respond to bolt on mods very well, while the HR is better out of the box and better for bolt ons.

There is a world of difference in the HR vs the DE engine.

Lug 09-12-2009 08:59 PM

The real advantage of the 03 to 05 is that it was 150 lbs lighter than the 06 on. The revup engine's power kept the heavier Z in the same approximate performance window.

Sardis 09-12-2009 09:13 PM

The rev up was a minor improvement. Didn't they just basically fix the manifold of robbing air to the engine?

The HR is a noticeable improvement. As for the weight that has been widely argued and debated, so I won't go there..

iceman21_23 09-12-2009 09:42 PM

weight is minuscule really. as far as the DE engines go stick with the 04-05' model years no tire feathering window grease streaks and so forth... 07-08'z seem to be out of his price range. just remember u gotta pay to play as your buying used expect almost all Z's to be run hard and look for signs of that

CrownR426 09-12-2009 09:45 PM

If your gonna get a 350 get a 07+ btw!

Sardis 09-12-2009 10:56 PM

Tire feathering should be corrected with updated alignment specs. I had an 04.5 and still had that issue until it was corrected.

Also bad syncros, had the entire tranny replaced under warranty. Most Z's are driven very hard, so be careful.
