need to learn how to drive auto.
Ive been driving stick nearly all my life, anyone have any videos or advise on how to drive the 7at the best ( exciting ) way possible for when the need arises? thanks.

pull the paddles when it is time to shift. Be in D not R for best results.

I do have to add though, even thought I've only driven the 7AT for about 20 miles I found it best to shift at redline :tiphat: |
Do you live under power lines?

I must admit that I am getting used to and love the down shift ability whilst in D. So far I am mastering that technique.

Cruising, I usually upshift just after 2K; higher, natch, if accelerating briskly.
The gears seem to be matched to MPH quite a bit -- I find 4th will automatically downshift at low speeds and below 2K, where as, say, 3rd and 5th are far more forgiving. A lot of it is just getting used to what speed vs RPM vs gear for downshifts -- when coming to a stop, if fairly quickly, I will skip 4th entirely and just actuate two shifts so I'm rolling to a stop in 3, then blip to 2, and then 1 at under 5 mph. Alternatively, you could let the ECU handle down shifts and you just control up until it feels more natural. Note that the ECU learns your shifting habits, so it may feel a bit quirky in D for a few days after rowing through the gears manually. |
also recommend letting the car downshift for you when coming to a stop. Likes to fight you if you are manually downshifting 2 - 1.

it frees up one of your hands so you can fap while you drive

The first few days i had mine i couldnt avoid running 1st up to 4-5k before shifting just in casual driving. I got alot of wtf looks when i went slow into 2nd and 3rd. Now just cruising i will shift into 2nd at 5mph. So smooth

Driving an auto is easy... just hand over your testicles and get behind the wheel.:tiphat:

Try not to rest your left foot on the brake pedal while driving.
If you can, don't use your left foot at all. You should be only using your right foot. |

I have a hard time believing that someone can lift their right foot off the accelerator, move it over to the brake pedal, and then press the brake, faster than someone can lift-right-foot-press-left-foot. Not really reaction time but the time involved getting one foot from point A to point B. But I could be wrong. I would be very interested to see any data one way or the other. Not that I'm going to change my habits after all these years, but I'd like to know. |

If you are driving aggressively:
1-2-3 Redline 4-5 6000rpm 6-7 useless. |

Will the wheels chirp then when doing the above? To be honest I have yet chirped the wheels on this auto. |

Yea that whole "never use your left foot" is a load a ... I am always using my left foot ... wait, oh yea, I have a 6MT.
Look at some of the NASCAR in-car foot action. Some of those guys are trailbraking into corners with their left foot. And they have clutch pedals. But they tend to be amongst the more spirited drivers. |
|
ha.....you guys and driving with both legs.
i use all three. :tiphat: |

I chirp with VDC on. With VDC OFF, wheel spin is insane unless I control it with the throttle. Just be careful bro. Don't want to hear you drove yourself in a ditch or hurt someone. Try this in a closed environment. |

try put the gear in "R" for Race-Mode.
for sure you will disappear from the crowd in no time. |

I drive an automatic with 2 feet also. The reaction time argument is nothing short of BS. I react quicker with 2 feet than with one foot. If a person isn't coordinated enough to realize that the left pedal is to brake and the right is to accelerate, then why are they driving? I also hate having to pivot my foot if I'm only driving with one foot as opposed to using both feet. As I'm driving I notice that driving with 2 feet is second nature to me, and I can't drive with one due to the hesitation to switch from pedal to pedal.
