brucelidat 05-15-2014 01:37 AM

There goes all your lotto luck. Should have played the lotto, had the car get smashed and bought a new one or a gt-r.

alcheng 05-15-2014 02:57 AM

it won't be the same if you drive a prius or smart-car.

I sent it into the Chive...wonder if they are affiliated. Or my neighbor (who owns the Honda) may have sent it in. Guess my car is now more famous than I am.

kenchan 05-15-2014 11:23 AM

It happened last Saturday. I was in Charlottesville, VA for the night and came back on Sunday to the base of the tree bent over inches from the back of my Z. I assumed the city did a "controlled fall" of the tree and was a bit pissed. The base of the trunk being bent over seemed odd, but I thought that was more likely than me being so lucky. The next day my neighbor texted me a few pics explaining how lucky we were. Until I saw the pics, I had no idea it fell between the cars so close. I live in the building beyond the pic...no damage done. There are usually cars parked on the other side of the street...not sure if any were damaged.

Oh, and I am about to make a final payment on the Z next month...not sure if having it paid off would have been a good thing or made it worse had it been totaled. I'm guessing I wouldn't get enough from insurance to pay for a new one. It's an 09 and only has 35k miles on it.

scottIN 05-15-2014 12:14 PM

I saw it on the Chive...

I can't find it...can you post or pm the link? Thanks much!

Haboob 05-15-2014 01:20 PM

Wow. Have trees begun to evolve to avoid cars? I hope so. :D

Though, it is like it's ******* with you. "I'm not touching you. I'm not touching you."

Kyle 05-15-2014 02:24 PM

I keep thinking about what I'd have done if I saw the tree falling...

Jump in the car and try to move it? I'd probably have tried to push it toward the car behind me. :o

Damn

Luciano13 05-16-2014 05:01 AM

Great photo shop:tup:
But next time i think u should put some leafs or dirt on the cars:rofl2:
Don't you think a tree that size crashing to the ground would drop a few things on the way down:roflpuke2:
Unless you parked the cars there after the tree fell for one epic picture:bowrofl:

Kyle 05-16-2014 06:50 AM

There is no debris on the cars because it was windy (hence the tree fell) and rainy (it'd be hard to photoshop a wet ground). I have no idea how long my car was there in the wind and rain before my neighbor took the pic. I was out of town when it happened.

Thanks! I certainly wouldn't have gone through the trouble of parking the cars there...too much work for the small payoff of "fooling" a few people on this good forum.

I really am lucky. My insurance would've only given fair market value (for a 09 with around 35,000 miles and after a $250 deductible)...not nearly enough for a new z.
