Has anyone tried OEM paint your own Z?

since bodyshops do crappy jobs or atleast its hard to find a place that does a real good job and also affordable. Was wondering if anyone has attempted to paint there own Z with OEM paint

It's not hard finding a good body shop. Just gotta listen to other members' experience.

I would and have painted small parts that are replaceable but not the body

Does touch up paint count? lol jk :D

I've done small pieces.

Zteve 05-12-2014 07:33 AM

small pieces ok, but painting a car yourself is not like taking a spray can to a wall. not anything i woud suggest you try yourself if you have never done anything like this before and if you have, got access to the right equipment and facilities to do this.

kenchan 05-12-2014 11:08 AM

yah, problem with rattle cans is its pressure dropping as you spray.

would definitely need an airbrush and compressor to do large pieces.

Zeetah 05-12-2014 03:32 PM

i would have bought the right equipment, if affordable, and i sure wouldnt mind changing the color of my Z at will or other pieces.

kenchan 05-12-2014 03:33 PM

yah, i should take some air brushing lessons so that i can paint my car.

Paintng a car worth a damn is a far bigger undertaking than you're giving it credit for. You're far better off asking local guys for a good body shop, and then taking their recommendation.

kenchan 05-13-2014 12:47 PM

lol'ed @ "onzedge likes this."

:rofl2:

Prepping correctly is the hardest and time consuming part. Spraying is actually fairly easy with the correct equipment.
