What does the dealer fit ?

Just curious really. What options are put in by the Nissan dealers?
Are the mudflaps and auto dim mirror, illuminated kick plate and spoiler added at factory? I am talking about those who order base + sport.

Those are all dealer installs. Although I'm in the process of adding kick plates as I type this. Just came in to get my iPad.

You should have a spoiler if you got the sport package. If you go the the nissan website you can see all the dealer added stuff.

That was my first port of call. Their website.

I'm thinking the sport pack is put together in factory. Except for perhaps spoiler and trim stuff ?

I guess it's all subjective. Mine came off the truck with the mud guards installed so I'm thinking they were put on at the factory (and the dealer just tacks the price on). Pretty sure the spoiler is put on at the factory.

All that stuff is installed at the receiving port out near LA, Nissan's "final point of assembly". At least that's what my salesperson told me when were shootin' **** while waiting to sign papers with the finance guy.

Discussed before......and interesting to see that not every mfr does it the same way.

And this explaining other mfrs getting their dealers to do final assembly.

Not much in dealer installed options for the Z from a dealer standpoint. They're all basic accessories. I do not think the dealers do much with these on their own. Knowing how big aftermarket parts and accessories keep them from doing their own thing. They're better off leaving it up to the customer. Illuminated kick plate, mats, and Nismo suspension, Nismo exhaust, Nismo body kit, ugly LEDs, back up mirror, and Nismo graphics are what they have and they are fearful of adding these on because of the cost. In the end, you are better off buying the oem option you want and then leave the showroom with your own plans of modding the sh!t out of your car.

don't think the front chin spoiler comes installed. i had to buy mine extra. first owner must have never installed it or must have never had the dealer install it.

I bought the illuminated kick plates from a dear in California and with my blue interior LEDs the combination at night is stunning

The chin comes with the sport. But what I can tell you is when I was test driving around socal, I saw a couple where the chin was still wrapped in plastic and was at the back along with the front license plate frame.

From what I've experienced with my present and past Z(350),the "dealer" does
not do much of adding these options.Depending on your location, the manufacturer
has a contracted company near the port of entry that does the install of much optional stuff like spoilers etc. These companies are set up to do these installs.Don't know if they have the parts in stock at their shop or the optional parts are shipped with the car.
Give you an example.I ordered some optional stuff for my 350,one being a rear spoiler. The car
arrived at the dealer without the spoiler. The Sales Mgr told me the contractor forgot to install it.They had it shipped in(overnite) had it painted and installed at the dealer.
I learned at that time that this stuff is usually done at the near port location.
Sort of stands to reason when think about it.In today's assembly lines for mass
produced vehicles, they cannot do a lot of custom stuff.Slows things down.

If the car is ordered from the factory then I'd agree that those add-ons are done with the contractor. If they're options desired from a car already on the lot then the dealer does have the ability to install them. IMHO, this is generally the more likely scenario, at least around here. My dealer told me they don't necessarily like to do them because they can't really recoup the labor costs by charging what the addition costs them. You know how it goes...if you're doing your first install of an aftermarket item, it will always take longer. 370Z's are not common around here and the dealers don't have a lot of experience with working on them.

When I picked my Z up at the dealer, the chin spoiler was in the rear, along with an extra set of floor mats and an extra rear mat. I didn't notice any of them until I was ready to drive off the lot. I had no idea what it was and the (new) salesman figured it out and asked me if I wanted it installed. After hanging around the dealership for a few hours already I was in a hurry to get home, so I declined.

He gave me some feeble explanation of why the extra mats were included. By that time I didn't feel like arguing and was still in a hurry to begin my drive home, so now I have brand new replacement mats if I need them.
