MAF tubes

When I pulled out the stock tube on driver side it had like a male part underneath. What is that for? Also, the oil temp is good to what degree before concern. I hit 235F in 80 degree temp yesterday in traffic and Florida isn't even hot yet
THANKS

300F but don't worry, your Z will start taking corrective action long before you reach 280F to protect the engine.

That may be true, but obviously something's wrong. It shouldn't be running that hot. For me, even on days in the low to mid 80's, I'll rarely get over 205 degrees under normal driving. Did you remove the tube or replace it? What happened?

Recently changed to silicone MAF tubes and added a Z-speed undershield. It has new penn 5W30 platinum oil in the motor. I think I am going to change some of the other fluids manual and diff since it has been 58k miles. does running the air make a difference?

I have stated this many times on the forum -- please refrain from posting whilst under the influence of hallucinogens or in a drunken state.

We all appreciate your cooperation.

I am also curious, I changed out my stock intake tubes with the MAF one. Both had some extra stuff attached to it. Just curious what purpose those served?

It's like an appendix for your car.

Colnajoe 04-29-2014 12:55 AM

back in the day when it ran too hot (stuck closed)or too cold (stuck open), it was the thermostat

They are resonators... helps quiet the intake and give a custom sound.

Vorttam 04-29-2014 01:05 PM

Interesting, thanks

Are you talking about the baffles attached by a small hose to the intake and valve cover? That's part of the PCV system.

Yes I was. When I ordered my MAF's I also ordered the PCV hoses, I just ran the PCV hose to the MAF. I did not put the baffles on, should I have?
