Back from a several month absence, time for an oil change?
So I changed the oil a month before I left for 3 months, My wife started it on a weekly basis, sometimes twice a week. Should I change it or would you guys call it good? Normally I change every 3 months anyways, but I just checked it and its still a good gold color even. Opinions?

I wouldn't, but no real hard feelings on it. I use synthetic and change twice a year regardless of miles.
As far as starting the car while it sits. Unless you are getting the car up to temperature, you are not helping. Just put the battery on a tender and let it sit. Short runs are hard on a car and the fluids. |
i spent a year on deployment when i had my 350z my wife got the oil changed twice and drove it around to keep it running smooth. your car should be fine unless your wife just let it idle for more than a few minutes.

Depends. If the engine was not thoroughly warmed up, then I would go ahead and change the oil/filter. If you are using dino-based oil, I'd go ahead and change the oil/filter. If you are using full-syn and the engine was warmed up properly during storage, you should be good-to-go for at least a K or two more miles.
But I tend to be very conservative when it comes to changing lubricants. As long as you didn't permit condensation in the engine, you should be OK. |
I'd leave mine alone. Except financially, it never hurts to change oil.
