they tried to steal her but they failed..but damage is done..

Hey all,

I am posting in behalf of my boy, who is also an owner of a 2011 370Z.

They tried to steal his car at night right from in front of his apartment!!!! a report was filed and it seems there was 8 other incidents that same night in his neighborhood. this happened in Morris county in NJ.

They attempt to break into his car by completely destroying the drive side door handle. From what i saw it seemed they went at it with a screw driver and sharp objects. the door handle is really banged up and hanging from the door... but the amount of scratches and dents are just awful..
- drive side door, read panel, front fender, the corner cover between the windows, even the damn hood!! all scratched up and have paint chips.

when i saw it i was furious for him..

I just wanted to post this for information out there. fellow Z owners beware. and also to see how much folks on here would think it would cost to fix the door handle and have almost the entire driver side of the car to be repainted....

thanks for reading.
cheers.

i have no idea why the title reads what it does..i think i moved it by mistake..
it should read:

"they tried to steal her but failed...damage is done tho.."

Not sure if i can edit to fix, can someone help please..

Invest in a good after market alarm with a remote paging system.
This happens each and every day no matter what kind of car you
have.
:ughdance:

Love the thread title, you should just keep it like that. Sorry for the pain though, at least they didn't get away with it or steal any valuables.

DOOMMONKEY777 04-17-2014 04:44 PM

After my wheels got stolen i park my car in a public garage, although some ahole still managed to f**k up my pass side door.

It never ends, so dont blow a valvular.

To the OP: that sux. I'm sorry for you and your son. Azzes. :shakes head:

My garage was soon after my Z came home. But we live in a very rural area. I think i would die if somebody screwed my Harry up.

My personal opinion is that an alarm with a pager is just a waste of money, and could get you shot over a Car. Most people hear car alarms nowadays, and don't even look, its so common to hear them honking nowadays.
If your car alarm has an ignition kill, it MAY be there when you return, your contents, however may not be. Serious crooks are quite savvy these days. If they want your car, it's theirs.

Inb4 the super moral "OMG I can't believe you'd want to kill someone for this" people! :rofl2:

But really, people like this should be purged from this planet!

at least to me it sounds like they REALLY wanted his car, but the Z's built in anti theft devices made it damn near impossible for them with the amount of scratches and damage that it sounds like was done to his Z....just another reason to like the 370, makes it a pain for the thieves to steal in the first place with the way it's built lol

A spring loaded punch knocks out a window in .01 seconds. No need to pry off the door handle to gain access. These guys were nothing near professional car thiefs. Probably some dumb-*** kids looking to get interior contents, not car. Just a guess.

Luciano13 04-20-2014 09:48 PM

:iagree:Almost sounds like they didn't want the car but only what was inside it:icon14:

PersianLegacy 04-21-2014 08:34 AM

thanks for all the support guys.

he is meeting with the insurance adjuster tomorrow to get an estimate for the damage and see how much the insurance is gonna cover.

i honestly think they wanted to get in the car and take whatever they could find.

when he moved to his new apt i told him not to park that car in the street.. worth spending the extra 75 a month on top of rent for a garage... sigh..

I agree 100%, only trouble is....Now YOU need a lawyer, and he probably won't be able to keep you out of prison. And you know what happens in prison STAYS in prison!!:nutswinger:

Yeah, the REAL problem is when you start to Like it! That's a bad place to be. Better to avoid prison.
