2012 Z touring (tires question)
 

I have relatively new front tires Yoko Advan Sports V103E with about 4,000 miles.

Rears are Advan Sports V103F's with about 34,500 miles, let's jsut say they are practically bald almost. Slip indicator comes on when I accelerate quick because grip is almost non existant.

Is it recommended to get another set of 103F's to keep same/performance reasons? Or would going to another brand not impact performance/functionality/feel? Advan Sports are a bit pricy, so I wouldnt mind saving some money while keeping a quality feel while driving.

Are you set on replacing the fronts too with only 4k miles on them? IMO you would not notice the difference just changing out the rears while keeping the fronts, especially if its just a daily driver. Now of course replacing all the tires with the same kind is "recommended" from a place like tire rack, but as long as you keep it with the same type (if summer tires are on the front use summer in the rear) you won't notice any negative impact. Why not just change the rears with the same kind of tires in the front?

I have no issue going w/ the V103F's, its's jsut that they are a bit pricy...tire rack is quoting slightly over $300 a pop
Not replacing the front,s it is a Dailydriver; got the front ones a few months ago.

Well to answer your question, it is ideal to use the same tires all around, but in your case i think you'd be fine getting a different kind. Just make sure it's in a similar category (summer, all season, ect.)

What would be good comparable tires that are comparable to:

370Z - R
245/45R18 96W
ADVAN Sport (V103F)

That would feel relatively the same, and cheaper then $300+ per tire.

These are a pretty decent tire, had them on my sentra spec-v. Looks like they don't sell those ADVAN sports in your size anymore.

I was pretty sure tire-rac was still selling the Advan Sports V103's (e/f, front/rear)?

Maybe they're not made anymore, and that is why they are expensive on tire racks website..who knows.

I made a mistake a few months ago when I replaced my tires. I did the necessary research and learned alot - but apparently not enough. Because my Z is my DD and I dont (didn't) run it hard, I opted to go with the Goodyear F-1. Not a bad choice for putt-ing around town or whatever, and the cost is very reasonable (aka cheap), but at higher speeds or quick movements or lane changes... it's definitely not the tire for this car. The sidewalls are too soft, so they "fold" or "roll"... they make the car loose. The car is way faster than the tires. Therefore, I MUST burn them down! They do look good, and leave a nice wide trail behind when pulling off from some of the kiddie cars that like to (occasionally) test the old man. But I won't be buying them again, and I certainly wouldn't recommend them. Just my :twocents:

Buy some Michelin Pilot Sports. Spend the money. Your car will perform as designed. They are expensive, save money by not spending it on energy drinks, bad tattoos and expensive cell phone plans. My 09 is a daily driver and I'll probably get 27-28K miles out of them. A whole lot better than the 17K on the originals.

I'm at 28k and still on originals, granted they are due to be changed. They aren't so much so it's dangerous though.

So I ended up scheduling the two rear replacements:

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus Tire 245/45ZR18 96Y
road hazard - $25 a tire.

$571 w/ tax includes mount balance

w/ road hazard $621 out the door.

245 on rear isn't enough. I plan to do 265 on rears when due for tires (on 18s)
