After the third one, I had to Google it. Yeah, I'm an old fart who is hopelessly out-of-date.

Lol, that's why I said it. I noticed the other two had already.

Someone pulled up next to me today and said, sweet ride and I said "thanks"

That's what I usually say.

My gf who also has a 370 told me one guy pulled up next to her in an audi and said, "gorgeous ride" she responded with "you think?" then proceeded to peel off and fly down the street like a bat out of hell.

she can be a douche sometimes :rofl2:

nhbpcivicsi 03-22-2014 10:35 PM

This always happens to me.. i have a debadged nismo so people always ask what kinda car is it :gtfo2:
Yesterday as i was pulling up to the club, this chick walking out goes "nice car!" i replied: "nice f****** face" :happydance:

Masterbeatty 03-22-2014 11:09 PM

I usualy say "thanks", but sometimes i say "i know, i love it too".
One time some kids asked my while waiting at a stop light how fast is it, i said, "really fast".
Kid:"how fast is that?
me:"65 mph"
Kid: thats slow, smh...

enkei2k 03-22-2014 11:19 PM

I usually say, 'Thanks, it's all right, but it's really not all that great'

2xtreme1 03-23-2014 12:38 AM

"Thanks"
*quick smile and laugh* "thanks"
"Ya its cool, thanks"

or sometimes for whatever reason I sort of ignore it and just continue the conversation

DatsunFTW 03-23-2014 08:04 AM

"Thanks"
Or for some reason I would say, "I try."

"Thanks, but I prefer driving a Titleist."

Elan 03-25-2014 08:39 AM

Wow some people here really come off as dbags... :ugh2:

I just say a simple "Thanks" or "I appreciate it". I like stopping and taking the time to respond to a compliment or answer questions. I'm only an a$$hole when the comment is blatantly condescending.

It's worse in the GTR (a friends). :(

It's a total d!ck magnet.

We get followed (literally) everywhere.

People come up, "Is that your GTR?!" after they watch us get out of the car after we pulled up. No, *******, we stole it and took it on a joy ride, now we're getting a bite to eat.

Some guy was standing taking pictures of every angle, once we got out there he was SOOOO excited that he got to meet the owner. Spent another 20min asking questions (my buddy hates this; hates answering the same questions a thousand times) and the guy wanted him to pop the hood, etc.

F&F quoted Frost, not the other way around. Get your ******* facts straight.

YzGyz 03-25-2014 09:32 AM

I usually say, "thanks" or smile and nod.
when people ask, "what is it?" I say, "it's a 370z Nismo edition." Then 9/10 x I get a blank stare and, "a what? Never heard of that. It's nice though."

Hate to break it to your buddy but that comes with owning the car, especially something on the more unique side. A porsche will get looks, but unless it is an upper end one most will ignore it. Throw in a GT-R and people will want to know about it, since they rarely see them.

Completely untrue. It just gets annoying, especially having people follow you around town.

While true, and he understands that, but it's a bit much (and they're not really that rare), it's just annoying being swarmed by people - Go look on the ******* internet if you want pictures or stats of the ******* car, don't waste our time, or go to the weekly car show and look at the 4-5 GTRs that are there.

Haboob 03-25-2014 11:13 AM

It's pretty much down to one word responses so that we don't spend 20-30min of explaining everything to them. :icon17:

Maybe a bit assholish, but y'all would do it too after 1,000+ times of this - and I'm only there for some of it , but I'm pretty good at just walking passed people and ignoring them.

:rofl2: that's like 5yr olds in my neighborhood.

'is that your car?'

yep

'nice car'

thanks.

'why is your car silver?

cause i like it.

'why is your other cars silver?'

you noticed! :ugh2:

ElVee 03-25-2014 02:19 PM

Depending on how receptive I am of their approach and who they are:

"Thanks!"
"Thanks, it's a fun car to have."
"Thanks, it's getting to be that time of the year!"
"Thanks, you have nice taste." <--to the ladies
"Thanks, it's not as balls-out/fast as yours, but I enjoy it and it looks great." <--usually to receptive camaro/mustang/challenger owners; usually their greeting is a rev and peel out for no reason, though.

"Correct" or "Yes"

In some cases, it's "Get away from me" or "I don't carry spare change, sorry"

rosecrans is a pretty shady area.

I grew up in Coronado and got my BA from SDSU (in 1983). Rosecrans was a real treat in the 70's.

Today I stopped at a restraunt near a part of town known for prostitution, and 2 hookers came up to me and said "nice car, and can I have a dollar bc I'm thirsty". Needless to say, I said thanks and gave them some change to buy a peace of mind when I'm eating

madwi 03-25-2014 11:57 PM

"Thank you" is my go to when walking through a parking lot. If I am pumping gas and they want to talk for a few minutes I will chat with them about the car and what not.

shaun66 03-26-2014 12:27 AM

I usually get the comment nice tree fitty. I have given up and just say thanks :yum:

Amuse370z 03-26-2014 02:48 AM

No need to be a dbag, at the end of the day, its just a Nissan.
