Get what makes you happy. Are you really worried about the resale before you even have the car? And since when do we listen to dealerships information :-P It's a Z car!

most people avoid black because of the troubles that come with it.
#1 hotter than hell in the sun
#2 harder to keep clean, shows dust and dirt the best
#3 all your scratches show.

I am assuming blue = a better resale.

I agree, I was going to get blue. But both my past cars were black and I know what it takes to keep them clean. I choose black.

BLUE~~

I bought a blue one because it was a steal...it wasn't even one of my color choices...my top choices were yellow and white...but at $26.8k with only 3k miles with sport package and a $1500 Eclipse navi already installed, it was a no brainer for me to pick up that blue one...I was hesitant at first...it looked good in pictures, though I had never seen a blue in person before.

When I stepped out of the airport, the seller pulled up the ramp, and I was at awe at the color. It was one of those things where a sports car should stand out and be flashy...the blue is a hella flashy color...you will be noticed on the road, just like the yellow. The color is gorgeous and looks good on the car. When you see a hot yellow sports car on the road, you will notice it in the crowd. Well, this blue is the same way...it's not the typical dull blue that you see in all the other cars...

I guess if you're deciding between black and blue, the way to look at it is, if you want to just blend into the crowd and be noticed only when the entire vehicle is in view, then get the black...however, if you want your car to be noticed and immediately recognized, then get the this blue one...In my opinion, sports cars are the only cars that can get away with a loud color (such as yellow, black, limegreen (on the Lamborghini), etc...)...yellow wouldn't look right on a Camry, nor do you want a Monterrey Blue Accord...however, on the 370Z, that blue is just screaming sexy....I bought the car and paid for it before I ever saw it in person...I went up and met up with the seller and met him for no more than 5 minutes and drove home...I was really nervous at first about the color, but do this, have someone pull up to you in a blue one, you will not have any regret after that...

And one more thing, I've been the car business for over 7 years. And when we have certain colors we have to move, we tend to tell customers what we want them to hear. "Oh, this is the classiest color...you need to get this color because this color was MADE for this car...oh, don't you worry about resale value? this car will guarantee the best residual in the future...I'm not gonna tell you what to pick, but for me, if I was to buy this car, I wouldn't want to have the color that everyone else has, I would only buy "THIS" color...blah blah blah". You get the picture....

black FTW!!!! black is imo the best color hard to keep clean..imo worth it

Only get black if you know what youre getting yourself into.

Black is the hardest color to keep clean, and the swirls are horrible. If you know how to professionally detail a car and use polish to remove swirls, have at it.

The blue on this car is outstanding. I bought it because I liked it - didn't really give a rip if anyone else did. Turns out I do get non-stop compliments about the colour (and the car for that matter). I can tell you about how much work black is, etc but if that's the colour you like get it. Resale is a non issue as far as colours - most people I know that buy a used car perfer a colour but its typically not a deal killer. If it is a deal killer then they are looking for a few other specifics as well on top of the colour.

yup...if you're buying to INVEST, then you're looking at the totally wrong thing to invest in...you don't invest in cars...they depreciate...most people kinda sounded iffy when I told them I got a blue...but once they saw it, they all changed their minds...for me, black is too common, just like silver is...blue is a rare color, just like the 370Z is...low production car, and on top of that a low production color...it's a win-win situation if you're talking "investment"..

I think there is a difference between buying a car for an investment and buying a color that will be easier to sell later. Here is a clip from an online article:

"Paint color can be a huge deal when it comes to purchasing a car, repainting a car as well as re-selling a car. When I was looking around to buy my first car back in 2007, I noticed that there was a significant price difference between two vehicles that had the same specs. When I asked the salesman why there was such a price difference when all of the options were pretty much the same, do you know that he actually told me it was because the paint color was different on one car versus the other? It turns out that a silver car is more expensive than a white one.

Paint color isn't the only color option that people look at when it comes to buying a car. Rather, people are also looking at things such as interior color, etc. However, the exterior paint color is a huge deal because the more popular the color, the easier the car will sell. Don't believe me? Have you ever seen someone driving around in a brown colored car (or just imagine some awful color in your mind) and wondered why on earth someone would buy a car in that particular color? What about a color car that was so bright it hurt your eyes to look at it?"
