Huge Dilemma, What to do?
3 years ago I was looking to replace my aging 1986 Mazda Rx7. I really liked the Nissan 350Z but my wife said no, we have kids and it snows here. 2 of my kids live in Texas and 2 in Missouri. So I bought a Pathfinder. It is a great vehicle but not what I wanted. It is heavy, hard to park, and forget about gas mileage. So, my says I never drive the SUV unless it snows. I have almost 21K miles on it. I told her it is too expensive to drive. She told me I should have gotten the Z and I might as well get one. But, this is the tough part, I also have some old Plymouths and Dodges I am trying to restore. A friend suggested I get the Dodge Challenger instead. The challenger has a back seat and the Z does not. I can maybe get the base 370Z for around $28K and the Challenger starts around $32K. I can't decide between the two. I still drive the Mazda to work days a week so whatever I get would be my daily driver. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

What do you need a back seat for.. this car is for you!

snow + either of the two will be all bad news -- so ... get teh Z
|
Thanks!
For those who replied, thanks. I always thought a car should have 2 doors (maybe) and 1 seat. I have owned a total of 7 Mazda Rx-7s so a 2-seater has always been part of my make-up. For the price, in my opinion, no sportscar comes close. The new Mazda's are not the same...

I wouldn't get either. It snows there so get an Audi Quattro.

the Challenger is a fat pig and underpowered for its weight. The Z with good winter tires handles ok on snow, so long as your easy on the clutch/gas. This is a no brainer really. And if you must, if you can find one for MSRP or less, the new Camaro outperforms the challenger in every respect, and has a back seat.

drop the wife hahah... i kidd. Like stated above get an audi!! lol
|
as much as i like the looks of the challenger, its a pretty craptastic car. its miles behind the mustang which is miles behind the camaro. Get the Z or if you want a back seat then get the camaro. Or convince dodge to make the challenger out of carbon fiber and give it an interior that doesnt look like it belongs in a dodge omni.

The kids are grown and have their own cars? Ditch the wife and get what YOU want..

winter tires and winter driving skills is all u need. Now get that Z, dont let the door shut on this Z too....

Yeah... get some aftermarket 18's with some michelin ps2 a/s
Or pirelli a/s tires on your 18's and jus chill in ya brand new Z cuz! ;) I mean u cud get an audi tts quattro but I kno what its like when u r in luv with one particular car. Its hard to stray. Playing devils advocate for a sec though.... the tts is quattro 0-60 in 4.8sec and quarter in 13.5sec lateral acc. Is .95g 2 extra seats with z performance and styling is comparable imho. Only issue is the audi is about 16k more at base price. So if u can't afford or just plain old don't want an audi? U will be great with a Z. Jus take extra care in winter driving. |

You have been driving 2 seaters for years, so that shouldn't even be an issue. Get the z!
