Glad you switched up.....i honestly dont see why people like the new camaros. Everyone I've seen so far makes me puke from a design standpoint. The Mustang looks much better in my eyes and has been out for a while. I just don't think GM can get anything right as far as designs are concerned. Their LS engines are heavenly though......

The rims on the SS's even look small. You need 21-22's to make it look decent. Thats actually why I think I liked the one in Transformers.....bc it seemed somewhat proportional. When I see them now they just look awkward.

Unfortunately everyone and their mother owns a mustang. At one point here at a stop light, I counted 6 in the intersection. Plus to me, there is something wrong when my V6 has a higher output then ANY V8. Chevy got it right with 425hp, THAT should be the standard for V8 power. Regardless of how much it weighs, its superior to the new mustang in every aspect, as proven in tests by C&D, MT, American Muscle, the list goes on.

I own a z , want a vette next but if business stays slow i will look toward the camaro. I think the camaro is awesome looking. i almost got the camaro but this z is for my wife she said the camaro does not look like a girls car. I like all the newer look cars with the old school flare, camaro & challenger. But picked the z 'cause i wanted one since they remade them.

ZNewb - did you get a chance to test drive the Camaro SS? I've been tossing the idea around in my head but I'm concerned that the size, weight, and handling of the Camaro will turn me off. It would be interesting to get thoughts from someone that has driven both the Z and Camaro.

A sub 5 sec 0-60 and massive 6.2L V8 is attractive but a recent test pitted the Mustang GT against the Camaro and both drivers commented on somewhat lazy response and a lot of understeer with the Camaro - the Mustang had the advantage in the corners. The last time I drove a Mustang GT I was definitely not impressed with its handling and so if the Camaro is worse...I dunno.

Wait until next year with the stang gets the 400hp 5.0 motor, then make your choice. I love the Z and all but you sound like you are on the fence between a muscle car and sports car. Just saying for you it might be better to wait just a bit longer so you can check out the new stang. It'll have the 400hp similar to the camaro but will be slightly lighter than the 370z (current GT is at 3350lbs). While cornering in the stang won't be nearly as good as the Z, the extra power might be enough to sway you. Just food for thought.

I am getting rid of my 2010 Camaro SS for a Z. My first car was a Z and I've had 4 Vettes 1 '03, 2 '05, 1 '09 in between the Z and the SS. The SS is not nearly as quick as a Vette the weight holds it back but it soaks up bumps and everyday roads much better than a Vette. SS has a similiar design to the Porsche Cayman, which they used in tuning it, with its coil over springs instead of the Vette's leaf spring suspension. Overall the SS is a great car but of all the cars I've had I miss my '04 Le Mans Sunset 6M 350Z.

That car was the greatest car ever! Z's handle very well are very well balanced, and are very stable and confident at high speeds. Vettes are not so confident at high speeds unless on a smooth surface or track. The SS is more confident at higher speedss than the Vette but it takes a little longer to get there and feels underpowered because of the weight. It needs to lose about 300 pounds to get where it nees to be but in time I'm sure gM will get it together still a great machine considering it's a revival for the Camaro.

But hands down a Z is the best car for the money in it's price range, althoguh a Vette is by far the best value for what it is in the whole world it's a Ferrari beater at a 3rd of the cost. The Z is just a great handling machine. The only thing a Z needs more of is power and torque but they have enoguh mods out there wo quick fix it. But the Z is probably the only car I know that is evolving into a better machine by adding power and cutting weight whereas more cars have to add weight to get more power.

The Z will not beat a SS nevermind a Vette. You will needs alot of forced air induction to touch a Vette let alone beat one. But the Z is a step behind in straight line performance with the SS but if a course is involved the Z will eat the SS in the turns. But, it won't kill the SS or even beat it because the SS makes up for turns in straight line acceleration and can come out of a corner or turn quickly with the amount of torque it has. But, it just tells you that speed is not everything in this world when I've gone throguh Vettes and Camaro SS, yet I still find my heart comnig back for more from a Z!

Actually, the body will retain its current weight, plus an additional 350lbs added from the 5.0 motor, overall it will weigh the same and have 25hp less than the SS, Z will still be an upgrade over both. Be advised, the 5.0 has yet to be approved by FMC.

WoW! N the camaro has such a cheezy interior.
I have a hard time imagining droppin 29k for one.
I wouldn't even think of it for $40k+

The Z is so much more of a better value $ for $.
Enjoy ur Z

if the current mustang gt weights 3572 lb courtsey of motortrend 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS vs 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T vs 2010 Ford Mustang GT - Specs and Road Test Data - Motor Trend
How exactly is a bigger v8 going to make the mustang gt weigh less? Will ford start using expensive material for light weight components?
