I just disconnected battery positive terminal and cracked the window down just a little to help with expansion of the air due to heat..
Throw a cover on... and left for 4 months...

Now i want to start the car... my plan is to change oil.. but i've read somewhere that changing the spark plugs and putting some oil on top of piston would help with a rough start after 4 months of oil draining down.. i want to make sure that everything is rightly lubricated to avoid damaging the engine.

is pouring little oil throw the spark plus holes possible? or that can somehow have a negative impact?

Winter storage for me conceits with driving it into the garage for the weekend, I drive mine all week., no problems after 314,xxxkms.

Ok, fine the car I do store for winter I just keep on a trickle charger, check the oil in spring and fire it up.

Yes, it's possible - just pull the plugs and squirt some oil in the cylinders - but it shouldn't be necessary and you run the risk of fouling the plugs.

So, you've got 195,000 miles (approx. 314k km) on the 370z as a daily driver. I agree. It's a car.....drive it.

I might do just that.. I don't want to have any issues at least until i boost it. :nutswinger:

Mine is a year long DD. I can't understand why one stores their car. I mean, ther should be at least a few days each month when the roads are clean enough to take it for a drive???

Winters in Canada involve a lot of ice and snow. As great as the 370Z is, it's not an ice and snow car. Even here in S AR, there can be a few Winter days when it is best to leave a Z in the garage. And then there is the de-salting involved - a lot of work for a few hours of driving.

What if its your daily....?

Put 5w-30 in it, and start it every other week for 10-15 min. At least long enough for the engine to get some temp in it.
I drive mine 365 and I think we have about the same weather.
The car is made for it.
It's not like you live in antartica.

Why bother trying to drive the Z in the snow when you have a second car with better ground clearance, and better suited wheels and tires.

Way overthinking. It's not necessary to go to all that trouble. Four months is nothing. "Oil draining down"? Nah. No such thing.

There is a lot of information on storing cars on the internet, it seems many people have been doing it for decades and have learned alot over time. Here's a checklist that took me all of 30sec to find.
http://www.rochestercorvetteclub.org...-checklist.pdf
Do as much or as little of what is listed.

INJECT OIL: This can be done for rare cars and for long term storage needs. If you really want to go to great lengths and are truly obsessed, take a lesson from motorcyclists: Remove the spark plugs and inject a little oil into the cylinders. Reinstall the spark plugs (or an old set of used plugs for storage) without torquing them completely, and crank the motor briefly with the plugs in and the positive lead to the distributor or the coil wire removed. (Don't let the engine fire.) This will coat the combustion chamber and cylinder walls with a protective layer of oil. Don't restart the car until spring. You will need to change the spark plugs back to your good ones or buy new ones in the spring because of the oil that fouled them with the protective layer.
