Sorry to see, hopefully someone didn't do on purpose but maybe the wind. Happened to me in Maxima once, I was parked far away and a cart came crashing into me while I was sitting in hit. Left a big dent.

maizenblue 03-11-2014 08:58 PM

Im so pissed off. I parked nowhere near the cart carousel but it left a dent and obviously many scratches. someone threw it at my car or the wind carried the cart across the lot to pick up enough momentum to do this

ouch, that sucks. :(

yah, one of my earlier hobby cars got hit by a cart too on a windy day. wat really pissed me off was i was only there for 10-15sec to pickup my wife and boom! i was still in the car.

that's when i decided to take a pdr training course and fix dings and most touchup-able damage myself.

i had pictures in my albums page of the damages ive fixed with pdr + touchup, but some f-heads reported me last week so they are all gone.

maizenblue 03-11-2014 09:10 PM

I havent been so mad since the day some stupid private looked down the barrel of his rifle to see if there was a bullet in the chamber.
I guess ill get a body shops opinion tomorrow maybe

Ouch, sorry to hear that. But from the looks of it, I think it can buff out.

gbrettin 03-11-2014 09:59 PM

AGhhh god man.. That sucks. Some people just don't care. :|

madwi 03-11-2014 10:00 PM

Are you close to GR? I have all the tools/polishes to try and buff it out if you want. Nothing I personally can do about the dent but might save you a couple bucks if it doesnt need to be repainted. Can you catch your fingernail on the scratches?

wheee! 03-11-2014 10:01 PM

Black Cherry sadness... :crying:

Probably about 100 miles from grand rapids. I have a buddy who lives there though, so if your serious and if its something that can be buffed out I could definately make the trip there and stay with my friend for a day or so as well. And yes, my fingernails do catch on most of them

madwi 03-11-2014 10:08 PM

If they are that deep that your fingernail is catching, not something a buff would take out, at least in my experience. It could reduce the look a lot but they would still be there.

Wow man that sucks , i found carts against my F350 more than once and it always pissed me off
I hope it was a accident and not some dumb lo-life thats jealous

maizenblue 03-11-2014 10:11 PM

Well, ill get quotes tomorrow and hope for the best. I dont have much cash lying around to spend on cosmetics right now so i might just have to settle with leaving it how it is.

It only enrages me more knowing it most likely was done on purpose. I parked a decent distance away from everyone else

Damage? What damage?

99% of that can be buffed out

maizenblue 03-11-2014 10:24 PM

I would consider a dent to be damage unfortunately. The picture doesnt really pick it up

Fair enough, but PDR works WONDERS. And if you go on a day when your dealer's PDR guy is there, they shouldn't charge more than $10-20 to remove

madwi 03-11-2014 10:30 PM

Well if you want to try and buff out what we can let me know. I usually have a pretty open schedule on Fri-Sun.

CSGLEON 03-11-2014 10:32 PM

Look at that... That was very much done on purpose! A little scratch on accident maybe. But that, it looks like someone pushed the cart back and forth! That sucks dude:/

maizenblue 03-11-2014 10:32 PM

I just got a new job in the service department at a ford dealership while im in my mechanics program. Im going to get outside quotes and talk to the collision center at the dealership too and hopefully get a deal.
A different story entirely but im already sickened by my boss telling me that "we dont sell waranty work. I dont care if oil is starting to slowly drip out of the pan, if the customer doesnt know about it, then we won't fix it under warranty." Absolutely sickening. But thats a story for another day

Heck bring donuts to the collision center guys and they will buff it out for free. Should only take them a couple minutes.

If I owned your dealershit, I'd fire the service manager... That's free money as far as I'm concerned, and a happy customer. If they don't wanna bring things like that up to an out of pocket customer... Mayyyybe, because most people will think you're trying to pull a fast one.

Getting back to it. It doesn't look like a cart hit you, it looks more like a car hit you. A carT doesn't have that much flat area to do sweeping damage.
And it should be pretty easily fixable, so don't lose sleep over it!

maizenblue 03-11-2014 10:44 PM

I hope a simple buffing takes care of it, thatd be great.

But yeah I dont understand why he makes us be shady. Even for an out of pocket customer I can bring them to their car and show them while its up on the hoist whatever is wrong. But I just started and dont want to piss my boss off already.

If the scratch it deep, then I suggest getting a touch up paint.

1.) Apply touch up paint to the scratch only
2.) Wipe excess
3.) Let it dry
4.) Repeat the process until paint fills up the scratch
5.) Sand that badboy with the proper grit sandpaper
6.) Finally, polish/buff

axmea? 03-11-2014 11:35 PM

Lots of people don't care but you have no control over that other than park as far as you can from high traffic areas. Could be accidental too. Fix it and move on.

Did you ask the store or the shopping center property management company for a copy of any available security video?
