Joining the ranks :(

Well, I am taking my Z in tomorrow to get it looked at. Not only are my 6th gear synchros going bad like many others here but so are my 5th gear ones. The sixth gear started doing the gringding thing about 1000-1500 miles ago but I ignored it and found if I just always put it in 5th first then really really slowly put it in sixth it was fine. Unfortunately 5th gear now grinds really bad as well.

do you have the sport?

Solus 09-02-2009 07:54 AM

Yeah base+sport 6 MT

Red370 09-02-2009 08:03 AM

why is it only happening to the sport and not the base/touring models? hmm...

Solus 09-02-2009 08:04 AM

SRM ? I don't know but I am not in the least bit pleased.

Red370 09-02-2009 08:07 AM

you said it, not me!:rofl2:

Its a simple fix, the two that were at my dealership were in/out in two days. Hopefully this isnt a recurring problem.

Solus 09-02-2009 08:42 AM

Yeah but they better give me a rental.. no way i am driving my supra around for a couple days.. way to much of the bad kind of attention and my fuel system is jacked on my land rover.

got it back lol.. took em forever to get the transmission in ... then they tried to put the tranny from a 350 on it... but now its working great lol

spearfish25 09-28-2009 03:46 PM

What did you do with the test pipes and muffler delete??? Did they say anything? :)

Pushing_Tin 09-28-2009 04:00 PM

6MT with touring and sport, 6,500 miles and no issues.

Eh? I would think the tranny from the 350z would not work?

Anyhow, this thread falls in line with why I bought he 7AT :)

This is the first I have heard of this - you say you are joining the ranks, who else has this problem - any threads?

:iagree: First I've heard of it.

spearfish25 09-29-2009 05:49 AM

I've heard about it maybe once or twice more. Certainly not enough to worry about...and when there are enough, we'll have a recall. Though, someone said the G's had this problem and he swapped trannies like 6 times through the life of the car.

Solus 09-29-2009 09:55 AM

There have been a few people with the problem its pretty well documented and the dealership called tech-line (apparently that is who has to approve it) as soon as they told them the issue they just said to order the transmission.

Kannibul: The 350 trans doesn't work, I was just saying they tried to put on on. They didn't realize they had the wrong one at first. Then they got the 370 trans and put it on.. its working again.
