Guy traded his 08' STI

for a PG 370, i was at the dealer inquiring about finance, when a dude pulled up in a blue STI, when he came in, I said "nice car", his reply: "Thanks, trading it for a 370". So of course I asked him why, his reply: "I test drove one, made me feel like an idiot for getting that car in the first place, the Z is fu*kin sexy and feels faster". I rest my case. I got a kick out of it, figured i'd share.

Anyone thats interested, 08' STI at Casa Nissan for 25k.

lol... i like how you mention the STI price... it would have been funny if you asked for a test drive on the STI

Red370 09-01-2009 10:48 PM

this dude was beaming, said it took him 10 minutes of driving it to realize he wasnt leaving the dealership without it. It warmed my heart really.

Red370 09-01-2009 10:49 PM

haha yeah, im not much for hatches, 25k is a damn good price though!

shabarivas 09-01-2009 10:49 PM

Not at all! He had some good looking machined silver wheels on it too, if your in the EP area, id jump on this, it wont last.

I would PICK a 370 over an sti (obviously) but I don't think I would trade an sti in just to get a z. He had to lose his rump on the deal

Red370 09-01-2009 11:04 PM

yeah, think he said they gave him 20 for it, but hey, its his money!

Damn! An '08 STI MSRP is like $36,000. That's almost 50% value in one year. That dude got jacked bigtime.

Yeah, 25,000 for 08 STi is a great deal. I'm not going to make the same mistake as him though. I'm saving for my 370Z.

If he really thinks his 08 STi feels slower than the 370Z, he must have had a slow STi. My 05 STi felt wayyyy faster than my 370Z. I know stock for stock they are pretty even acceleration wise, but feeling wise the STi feels faster for sure. Probably because of the turbo feeling.

have you driven on 08-09 STI? Subaru changed the characteristics of the car to be more subdued; part of that whole image change they are trying to do to allure a more general audience. Anyway, the 08 STI doesn't feel like the previous gens. I mean my old 06 WRX felt nearly as fast at the 08 STI I test drove. Compared to the 06 and 05 STI's I've test driven which actually feel like you are going fast.

As for the huge hit in the 08 STI price, I think a lot has to do with the hatch style and low performance of the car. Overall the 08 STI just hasn't been doing well, even in the subaru community. It's not was raw as the previous gens and is slightly slower in acceleration. It's no surprise that they aren't holding their value. My 06 WRX only lost about 3k in depreciation. Paid 24k for it and got 21k out of it. The older gen Subys hold their value much better than these newer ones and I think a lot has to due with the new style that subaru is trying out. I for one did cross shop the STI to the 370z and the 370z won hands down no contest for various reasons. Still, I miss AWD
