My point is that the way you somewhat bashed the idea of a lease came off as uninformed. If someone came to me and said that they wanted a Z now but had an eye on the Z35, I'd recommend a lease all day. It's that very line of thinking that led me to lease my '13, because if the Z35 does end up becoming a bit too digital for my somewhat old school taste, I have the option to buy my Z34. If on the other hand the Z35 or the IDx wins me over, I have an easy out. I'm happy for the OP, and the truth is that as a first time buyer it'd be hard as F to get him into a lease on a Z without a large chunk of change down. A 12% APR is a bit high for those of us used to Tier 1 credit, but it's his decision and he can always refinance with a credit union in a year. Your comment about me being "a selfish dealer" is just plain rude and ignorant though. I was a huge part of the Hawaii G35 community back when I had my G and ran our Oahu club and sold a ton of cars to many members. After moving to LA I've sold a handful of Zs, LEAFs and other Nissans to a few folks who are members here and over at My350Z.com as well. I'm sorry you feel a need to stereotype but not everyone who works in the car sales industry is a jerk. I'm assuming that your attitude stems from negative experiences with dealerships but we're not in the showroom here, this is a board for Z enthusiasts alike. :driving: |

2015 Juke Facelift - Spring 2014 2015 (Gen III) Murano - Spring/Summer 2014 2015 (Gen VIII) Maxima - Fall 2014 2016 Titan - Spring/Summer/Fall 2015 No word on the Z yet, Nissan has been incredibly tight-lipped about it but many signs seem to point toward a FI inline-4. |
Well said bruddahmanmatt.

I leased my 14, and I would've considered waiting for a new Z but a little common sense like already mentioned by others is that it will be expensive when it comes out and will def. have some problems that will take sometime to figure out. also like mentioned, all the problems have been fixed in the 14! I got my 14 without thinking twice.

In the Land of the Rising Sun, the Nismo ALWAYS had the 7AT option... Given the difference in price point, it probably would not have affected my own actions as a rat-race running consumer, but given how well the 7AT performs, I don't see why it shouldn't be (or, more to the point, "have already been") offered as an option, especially if the manufacturer already went through the trouble of building it... |
Don't know why anyone is thinking that the next gen Z will be a 2015 MY. There's been no indication of that anywhere. Not long ago there was an interview linked by someone here in a thread in which the Nissan design chief said that the next gen Z was being designed, but it was clear from some of the design tradeoffs he talked about that the design was far from being finalized.
So IMO, given how long it takes to go through the various design/approval/testing phases for a new car model, the odds aren't even very good that the next gen Z will be available as a 2016 MY (but maybe/hopefully by the end of 2016 as a 2017 MY). |

My idea of cost efficient modding is to decide what you will use the car for (track, 1/4 mile, autocross, daily driver) and mod accordingly. Example, mine is a daily driver and I plan on keeping it for 5 years so I don't want to pour a lot of money into it but make it a little more comfortable and fun. Also I did not want to do anything to void Nissan' warranty and make it as attractive as possible for a future buyer, too many mods, may give the impression of abuse whether it was or not. So my mods were simple and achieved my goals, RJM clutch pedal, tinted windows, dynamatting doors/hatch and an exhaust. No external mods as I think the 13 sport is a very nice looking car as is. Don't think you'll need an oil cooler unless you're tracking and I'd go with the exhaust before seats. Congrats again and happy driving :driving: |

There's no way I'll give up my seats with airbags for a daily driven car. |
