I did not have too many issues and sold it probably just before things were starting to go.

A. You be different (more confident, "stuck-up," happy go lucky, etc.)?
I got my Z when I was 19. Umm if I had it a year or two earlier during high school I don't think my attitude would have changed much. B. Or how might others treat you differently? Probably. People would have thought I was more cool. Haha As far as dates go ..Umm maybe. Having a nice car is not everything |

This was a couple months after getting it, before the BBC went in and it got lowered. |
No, it wouldn't have changed me or anything like that. I owned a stroked 347 69 Mustang(still own it but in storage), a 97 F150, and a 95GT during HS. I played sports, people knew me and I would say was liked but I kept to myself. Never dated the prom queen (although she is a good friend now) or any girl from my HS. I spent the weekends under the hood, studying, or hanging out with older people. I would get the you have to take me for a ride but I never associated with many kids at my school not that I was stuck up but just didn't care to do what they were doing like having a couple Smirnoff ice's and act a fool. LOL. When I run into people from HS though now most of them say they thought I was a *** but that was because I kept to myself, or maybe I was. LOL

My first car was an old unmarked cop car -- an '81 Dodge Diplomat that cost for 400 bucks from a police auction. I was 18, and a senior in HS.
The car had no interior handles in the back seat (guess why), and the glovebox was gutted (for the police radio, which had been removed). I found a booklet on interrogation procedures stuffed in there. As a kid, that discovery was cool as ****. Anyway, if I had the money (or. more to the point, parents with the money) to buy me a new Z while I was in HS, I can only imagine that what ever extent to which I am (at least occasionally) a douchebag now would have been magnified by 10,000x having been lucky enough to be granted such a privilege before I was even 18. Actually, I knew a dude in college (the following year) and he had a new 300zx, and he was a spoiled douchebag. So, yeah, at least in my experiences, I find that people who have nice, new, shiny luxuries handed to them tend to be spoiled cocks as kids, and then hopefully reign it in over time (but frequently don't). If that commentary offends anyone who had such good fortune, sorry. But I have to ask: Are you humble, grateful, hardworking, considerate, and willing to help others who have less, or were you just tooling around, joy riding without care in the car mommy and daddy bought you? Do you care about others now, reflecting on the lucky dice roll you had, or do you pretty much figure everyone who is/was doing without must just not be working hard enough. Just sayin'. That said, if you are in HS currently, and somehow cobble together the money to get the car on your own, then bully for you, and be a nice guy/girl, and give your friends a lift every now and then. I'm sure they'll appreciate it. |
I know it wouldnt have changed me, thats not true, big change, id probably be dead. That being said Ive loved sports cars since I was 5 (went to a Porsche dealership with dad), had friends in HS with 928's and 911's, was always so into the car, tech stuff, i never really said to myself, "oh man he is so cool cuz Sean has a 930 Turbo". I just thought...what an awesome machine, etc.

A slow car in high school is a big part of why I made it out of high school. If I had a stock Z then, it would have been ugly. If I had my Z then, I wouldn't live through the test drive. VDC won't save you from some dumb ****.

B. yes everybody would hate me |
I purchased my Z at age 18, now 20. I drove it through my senior year only.
A. You be different (more confident, "stuck-up," happy go lucky, etc.)? -It never really gave me any extra confidence, it was just fun to drive :) Always wanted a Z. B. Or how might others treat you differently? -I wasn't what they call "popular" I had my same group of friends throughout the year. No one really knew who I was so they never associated that sexy Z in the parking lot with that random guy. I always got out early also, so no one ever saw me leave in it. Until one day there was a group of like 12 dudes chilling around my car in the parking lot?? A few of them knew me and kept asking if this was my car blah blah. Just drove off after that. Sorry for the story! |
