When you start your Nissan 370Z,
not only the dash needles sweep but the small gauges sweep as well. I didn't know this until yesterday when I saw this video. I also like how start button illuminates as soon as you depress the clutch pedal. Good job, Nissan!

That is awesome

Another reason for me to like the new Z.

How does start-up work. You put the key in, then you press the start button? That seems like a hassle to me.
Start buttons are cool, but I only like it with comfort access or keyless start type of systems. Otherwise, it just seems redundant. |
no you just need the key in your pocket you insert it nowhere. it uses RF to let the car know it is in range then you hit the start button.

it's a cool feature.

i wonder if is is like the gages I work with. on stat up they sweep as a self testing option they feed the range from 0-5 volts to see if they get the full scale out of the guage or 4-20 mA depending on the guage. not all of them do this though.

Does the car unlock automatically as you approach it? I had a Lexus IS350 that would unlock when you put your hand near the handle to open it.
|
That's a sweet video. I wish I knew what the guy was saying though. I can't wait till we can check it out for ourselves at the dealership.
|
Hmm, I didn't know intelligent key was standard, not bad. If it were an option though, I would not be paying for it.
I believe on the current 3 series, if you don't opt for this option then this redundancy can occur. |

This new feature will be a very nice add on to the Z cars. G37 owners love it and finally Z owners can appreciate this 21st century technology. |
what about the doors? is there a button on the inside of the door handle?

of course the Z will have keyless entry...the Maxima even has it...lol....Altima Coupe has it also....
so, will the same stupid feature come on the Z like it does on the G...... punch the door lock and the windows will open by themselves...lol....happened to a few ppl on another forum... |
The RFID system is on my mom's M35. Very cool. Key never has to leave your pocket. (And for those smart asses out there, there IS a key inside the fob to lock the glove box. :D)
Anyway, you walk up to which ever door or truck and hit a button that unlocks that door. Hit a door button twice and it unlocks all the doors. It's really nice when I drive her car and just get in, [move the seat WAY back] and start the car. Unfortunately, this isn't hacker proof. There's a German team that was able to successfully prove that they could steal any car using this system with a laptop and 5 minutes. The problem is that these RFID tags that are built into the fob are only 40 and 60 bit encryption. So it doesn't take very long to decode them. However, it does take a serious PRO to do it. I was thinking about trying it myself, but I don't want to spend money on an RFID transceiver. Aside from that... Get lo jack and enjoy the awesomeness that it key-free driving. |
