3) can't afford gas
4) two seaters
5) can't afford repairs
6) cabin space
7) excessive noise
8) unwanted attention
9) complaints from significant other

I don't have any problems with my car, but I can imagine the Z can be a burden for some. Especially if he/she uses it as a DD.

1) Nope - that's what refinancing is for
2) Nope - used to, I've even crashed a few cars back then, buddy and lady works for insurance
3) Nope - I drive it like I stole it, it's my DD
4) Nope - I dont buy cars to give my friends and family a lift
5) Nope - bought it brand new plus I've modded the sh*t out of it
6) Nope - Less space to worry cleaning
7) Nope - I'm switching to a cat-less, resonator-less, muffler-less exhaust soon
8) Nope - I dont care, drool all they want
9) Nope - What I say is final

My pants feel a bit tighter when I am pushing my Z through twisty roads. That's a bit of a burden, I suppose.

Otherwise, I think the original question here is a bit, ummm, dumb.

Like anything in life, if your car is a true burden, then you are doing something wrong or have the wrong attitude.

It is a burden when you live in Mi with 115" of snow this year and you cannot even get it out of the garage because of the 6 feet of snow from the roof is in front of the garage door.

Why would you want to? That's what a second car is for ;)

I think you'd have the same problem with pretty much any other car out there...

sheps58 03-10-2014 03:17 PM

Burden High performance car.

I was denied an umbrella insurance policy because I have a high powered vehicle. My auto insurance rates are low but the same insurance company would not sell me an umbrella policy.

Difficult car for a long weekend. Had to use a Honda CRV for a drive to Skaneateles NY. I need a 2nd vehicle with the Z.

I may move on to a BMW 3 series xi coupe or 4 series due to space and lack of AWD.

luigi90210 03-10-2014 03:17 PM

Repairs can get expensive but I love my Z

:icon08: that's odd.. you sure it wasn't anything else?

sheps58 03-10-2014 03:42 PM

No that's what the under writer told me. My rates are low. My son who was on my policy caused minor damage to a parked car 3 years earlier, but they said that was not the reason. My rates never went up.

kenchan 03-10-2014 03:50 PM

i see... well, at least your rates are low.

expensive as like a $60 oil change..?? :bowrofl:

Joepro 03-10-2014 07:16 PM

It will only be a burden if the motor ever goes pop, until then Ill boost away, having a non factory turbo car with a turbo is priceless when you know the person staring at you is thinking...no way, that car isn't turbo'ed...well son, it is. OK one annoyance, I cant stop f'ing up rotors, just go new z1 rotors and they are already shaking, my rears are r1 concepts and they pulsate so much I cannot drive spirited at times...luckily we just got a Pro-Cut warthog at work :)

If you never Dd a Z, then you have no idea what you are missing!!!! It's like someone who has a million dollars, uses only a small amount, hoards the rest for some future and dies leaving it all behind.

I DD and I wake up enjoying the thought that I will drive it everyday. Other then when it is actually snowing, I drive it.

genesis2012 03-11-2014 12:14 PM

I actually found a burden. This is somewhat of a self contradictory.

As much as I want to drive the Z everywhere, I don't want to put a lot of miles on her.

kenchan 03-11-2014 12:44 PM

ive not parked my z anywhere but at a gas station once and an empty parking lot to take snaps (that you can find in my albums page). lol

Tigger 03-13-2014 09:15 PM

been shopping other cars for awhile just because i took a big pay cut two months ago. But damnit, every time i get in and drive her i forget about all that crap and just have fun. I also like seeing the gf in the passenger seat having a good time while i push it. Hell, ive been in new mexico for a week and a half now and i told her to go take the Z out this weekend. It beeds driven. And it brings me joy to know that she knows how to handle that car.

To sum it all up? Kinda hard to find something comparable that will keep me happy and sane and the gf smiling. Im willing to take the hit. But a burden? Nope.

hey blame the dealer, and me being young and stupid :rofl2:

but seriously, repairing my CSC cost me a **** ton since the dealer decided to not cover it under warranty eventhough they said they would

it was already close to 1200 for the parts, oil, ect. , not to mention it was a pain to drop the entire thing, i ended up just towing it all taken apart to a shop to have the job finished

i was kind of pissed that it cost as much as it did but now im glad its up and running, but now i just need new tires which arnt exactly cheap

Alexwallace23 03-15-2014 10:50 AM

Not a burden at all if it's all stock. It becomes a burden when you want to do all kinds of upgrades but then you can't find the right shop in your area to install the parts. So the parts either sit in the garage or you try to do it yourself then realize you still need someone to do the proper adjustments on the part.... With all the frustration you find yourself in the garage just staring at your car and wondering what else you could have spent just about $45k-$50k... A new house, a few vacations, retirement fund.... But once the frustration goes away, you realize you have one of the baddest and legendary cars there is, you have a Z in your garage. Just like that special person in your life, there are times you want to choke the hell out them, but at the end of the day you wouldn't want to be with anyone else.

I don't have any problems with my car, but I can imagine the Z can be a burden for some. Especially if he/she uses it as a DD.

I have 31,000 daily driven miles on my 2010 370Z. I bought it new in late 2010.

1. No payments, I paid cash for my car
2. Insurance isn't bad for me at all
3. If I was so poor I couldn't afford gas then I'd probably rethink my life choices, this is of zero concern to me.
4. 2 seats is not an issue for me, ever. I don't want or need more seats.
5. See #3
6. Cabin space gets annoying. Sometimes I think about my next daily driver being something with more room. I do wish I could easily transport my road bike, my rifles and range gear, my golf clubs (what a hassle in the Z), etc
7. The noise levels annoy me, but very rarely.
8. Unwanted attention? I get the occasional kid in a Civic who wants me to drive as stupidly as they are, but otherwise I don't think my car gets much attention. It's not exactly rare, or high end.
9. No S.O. but girls I date generally don't like the car. Some do, most don't. They all like my motorcycle, though.

I think that if the cost of insurance, gas, rear tires, etc. is of a real concern to someone, maybe that person made a mistake buying the car in the first place. These should all be considerations when determining whether we can "afford" a car, not just "can my broke *** make the monthly payment without getting the car repo'ed?" :rofl2:

Zbrah 03-16-2014 04:44 AM

It can become a burden if one just blindly throw money at buying parts, then having to sell everything for a loss. It's really more of a self inflicted burden so cant place the blame on the Z;)

genesis2012 03-16-2014 12:00 PM

Thanks Zbrah!! Lol

genesis2012 03-16-2014 12:03 PM

The Z is always thirsty :(
