better car alarm?
 

I'll give a short story first. I have a silver 09 370z and my 08 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R parked in my parking lot outside. They are parked side by side and very close...in some cases i have to slide over to the passenger side to get out of the car. My ninja has a Scorpio alarm on it and the sensitivity is as high as it can go. Last night the remote started going off so i chucked my shoes on and ran out the door. (bike theft is abit high where i live) So i get out there i see 4 teens walking away from the car/bike. I ask them "did you touch my bike?" they replied "didnt mean too, just wanted to look into your piece of **** car" So i said "dont come near my **** again or the cops are going to be called" Personally i would have done worse to them all but im in the army and ill get in trouble at work for getting into a fight. So i reset the alarms go back in and thats it.

This morning i go to futureshop...which is like a best buy and talk to my friend down there about a car alarm. I had a Viper 2 alarm on my Supercharged Cobalt and it was a good alarm. Talked to him about 2 types of alarm but when he brought the drop down menu up on the computer it only said 350z. Didnt have the 370z yet. Is the ignition system and wiring for alarms the same between the 350 and 370? I really wanna get a alarm in but i dont want to mess the wiring up if u need some sort of adaptor for the 370.

A knowledgable alarm installer would be able to install one on a 370z just as easily as the 350. The wires *should* be similar, but there are no guarantees. Even when I had access to wiring help information the locations would have to be tracked down and every wire would need to be tested. I've installed alarms on plenty of vehicles without cheat sheets, it just takes longer. Go to a reputable shop that cares about it's customers and their cars and you should be fine.

A car cover is a good idea as well, they make vehicles less of a target as it takes Joe Sh!t the Rag Man longer to get in. However when dealing with young misguided heathens, try to never antagonize them as your car could receive an un wanted modification in the form of criminal damage. A venting/rebelling toad stool of human can ruin a car enthusiasts day.

Suggestion if I may... The Z, like most cars these days, has a decent factory alarm, but lacks a shock sensor. Simply adding a shock sensor and perhaps an additional loud siren makes a huge difference. On one of our IS350, we did just that and it works great.

Theres a vendor over on the 350 site selling Zenesis alarms. The 502 has a LCD remote, remote starter, alarm, shock sensors, and a special tool called the z-pass that sticks to your window and if you lock your keys in the car or loose them you can enter in a code on the keypad to unlock the car.

Things I recommend on all alarms:

Glass Break Sensor
Vertical Motion Sensor (aka Jack Sensor or Towing Sensor)

Shock sensors are nice enough, but usually won't be triggered by a would-be theif, especially one with a window punch.

I haven't seen a proximity (microwave) sensor in a Z yet, but I know the one I had in my 240 falsed all the time. I'd stay away unless you have a convertible.

Also, 2-Way alarms start fairly inexpensively, and range is up to a mile depending on the system. Nice to not only know that something has happened, but also what has happened to your car.
