Is this enough oil?
My mom told me one early morning after I left, she noticed black oil on the floor where my car was parked...but it's blacktop, so whether she mistakenly thought it was oil or just something else is beyond me. So I check my dip stick today, and saw that the oil was pretty dark as well as I think it's a bit low? I put cardboard boxes under my car so if my car is leaking i should know asap. Any ideas?

It's a little low, you want to be in the middle of the 2 dots, more torwds the top dot.

how many miles does your car have?
|
Wat color is your car?
|
About a quart low. That doesn't necessarily mean you're leaking oil. The motor can consume 1 qt between oil changes and still be within Nissan's spec. Over that and you've got an issue.
How often do you check your oil? If the answer is anything other than "every time I get gas" you need to check it more often. That way you would notice the level getting lower and lower. |
Wat is your cat's name?
|
Midnight blue. And my car gas about 7500 miles

How long since the last oil change?
|
About 3.5k

I out Cardboard Boexes underneath my car about 10 minutes ago, the only thing that touched the boxes was water. So nothing yet. But it is snowing, so maybe its the snow but to my knowledge there are different coloured oils that pertain to different parts of the car. Green, Black, and anything else?

What is your tire pressure?
|
If it were me I'd pull off the undertray and see if it has oil all over it. A leak big enough to leave a puddle a woman would notice is going to leave oil all over the bottom of the motor and the undertray.
|
Im sorry but im quite new to cars, do i need to put my car on a life to pull the undertray or is it something i can do with my hood popped open. And im not sure what my tire pressure is at.
|
Tire pressure has nothing to do with anything.
You need to get the car up on jack stands or a lift. You might as well change the oil as well while you're under there, you're due. |
hmm i c well it just snowed and is still snowing where i live about 3 inches in an hour so at this rate. My car wont be moving any time soon. So Oil change end of this week as well as see whats wrong with the car, if anything. Anything else i should check for while im at it. and 6mt-z34 do you know alot about cars... could you come with me haha ill buy u a beer.
|
I know a bit, I have stands at home but I don't think today is a good day to lift the car and work on it lol. I also wouldn't drive it, its really bad out. PM i'll you up on that offer lol
|
lol i dont plan on even getting in my car for the next 7 days xD.
When the weather permits. But as for the beer, I have a hummer3 that we can play around in haha. |

Whether the dark color means anything depends on the oil you use. Some oils are just naturally dark. At 3500 miles, probably time for a change (the harder you push the engine, the sooner you need to change the oil and I'm guessing you drive pretty hard). The cardboard-under-the-car trick works very well for finding drips. I'd try that until you can get it on a lift. More than likely, you do not have a leak but it's possible. You're probably just using the normal amount of oil for the way you drive. One quart for 3500 miles of hard driving is pretty good. Just in case you didn't catch it before, check your oil (and other fluids) often. |
Will the trolls PLEASE :gtfo2:
Maybe you think this is funny or stupid, but you are turning this into my350Z... |

also, wtf kind of question is 'is the oil level low'? look at the dogdamn owner's manual and you'll know that the oil level is low. is it dripping from the car? who the f- knows. he put cardboard under the car, which is fine. i would just take a flashlight and look down if the lower shroud has oil or not. but was that the question? no  go hump your LGSST. :gtfo2: :rofl2: :p |

No idea what LGSST is btw |

I agree with Mr.kenchan 200% on this one. :wtf: when the owner's manual tells you how to read the dip-stick, how often should you change the engine oil in the maintenance manual. you can find all those stuffs with the material YOU ALREADY HAVE. if not, use the search button..!!!! or DIY section..!!! why setup a new thread asking "do I have enough oil?" I don't know you have enough oil or not, but if your steak turn out all black and burnt, then you need more oil...!!! :bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl: |

but.... but google doesn't have LGSST... |
How much gas is in the tank? Diesel or low grade?

I can't find the dip-stick that tells me the tire-pressure, is my Z defective..??

How is it there? Lots of trolls I'm guessing? Are there lots of people that post in the wrong section too and post everything in the general chat section? |
