OP, fact that you are buying a GTR makes this an easy decision.

I consider Evo to be the slower/cheaper version of a GTR (in a good way). Both are what I call "digital". Do you want two cars that deliver performance using the same approach?

Z is, by comparison, analog. It's N/A. You get to focus on making a different type of beast out if it if you want. It's more fun that way IMO

If I can go off track for a second...

1) you're in Orlando? Can I get a job with you? I'm great at sales and I want a GTR too lol

2) you should meet up with our Z group sometime, Facebook.com/centralfloridazclub

3) I was really torn between an evo and the Z that I ended up getting. I feel your pain and I can't even really give an explanation as to why I picked z, maybe more just for the lines I guess? Plus I got a really good deal on it so that helped make up my mind.

It pretty much is, but good lord is it brilliant to drive. I've driven a huge amount of cars, including the new Vette, and everything about the GTR just feels perfect to me.

So get rid of the Evo and get the Z, it'll be a great contrast to the GTR and in a good way.

equalme 01-31-2014 06:13 PM

I owned a '05 STi back then...fun car...but nothing like a v6 2-seater. In fact, stock for stock, the ride quality of the Z is much more comfortable.

I get more looks from females and older car enthusiasts with the Z than I did with the STi.

I say go for the Z, if you decide to keep it longer, then boost it...should keep you quite content then.

Also, dropped on Swifts and 20F/25R spacers, no need for fender rolling.

R3V 01-31-2014 07:35 PM

Stock for stock its definitely all a matter of preference what with AWD vs RWD and all that, powers even similar stock. IDK if I'd ever go FI on a factory NA car though, seems sketchy.

Here's my biggest question: How can I tell if a Z has the sport package EXCEPT for the wheels.

Op, actually you should stick to Evo, do not buy a Z

Spoiler, chin spoiler, big brake kit powder coated 4 pot/2 pot, s-mode button. Then wheels, tires, euro shocks, VLSD.

R3V 02-01-2014 07:54 AM

I've found a few w/rays wheels and spoilers that were in fact not sports. I didn't know the brakes got upgraded, that's an easy identifier.

synolimit 02-01-2014 08:22 AM

Not really, that's an easy up grade someone could of done. Look for the S-mode, can't add that on.

^ That's really the one I'm looking for, I agree it's all pretty easy to add but I needed the one thing that couldn't be. Thanks man thats the answer I was needing. :tiphat:

Buy an old VW bus. You can live in it AND drive it. Mods are cheap, and you can make serious HP with them. Look at all the money, and soul searching I just saved you.
You're welcome.

My wife and I can just become drag racing scooby doo crime solving hippies.

Huck 02-01-2014 10:07 AM

Yes!

R3V 02-02-2014 09:31 AM

It seems like every single one I look at doesn't have the sport package. IMO it's a complete deal breaker to not have it.

Wait you looking at auto or stick? Auto doesn't have a s-mode. You'll have to go off of everything else.

No, manual for sure. Where's the S-mode button? Top right of the shifter is the rev match button. Is that what I'm looking for? I've only ever sat in an automatic touring non-sport. I can't seem to find a good photo of the cluster/dash/shifter.

I know he's said he's looking for a manual, but thought I'd correct this.

The 7AT has rev-matching on at all times. So there's no s-mode button, but manual-mode shifts are rev matched.

Well we're talking about a visual button for him to see. So technically the auto doesn't have it. Meaning the button.

Correct, top right.

R3V 02-02-2014 11:00 AM

That button also controls the auto-rev matching right? When I drove the C7 Z51 and did that for the first time I creamed my pants. My right ankle's been broken a few times to doing the whole heel toe thing is a pain (literally!)

synolimit 02-02-2014 11:12 AM

That's all it is, synco rev match.

R3V 02-02-2014 11:16 AM

That's what I thought. I was thinking to myself, the only sport button in a NA/6SP 370Z is the option to turn off traction control

R3V 02-02-2014 12:17 PM

In any case, going to drive the BRZ and a 370Z on Tuesday.

Somehow I think you're going to end up leaning toward the 370.:icon17:

BTW if you get a NISMO you get all the stuff that comes with the sport package, plus stiffer suspension, different exhaust, quicker steering, 18 more hp, and a functional body kit. You'll end up sacrificing leather seats and a few non-essential goodies though. Something to consider if you're not planning to mod...

I did the same and love my Z, the BRZ just doesn't have the HP.

IDZRVIT 02-02-2014 01:53 PM

Gee, for a guy who is 25-ish, making a six figure salary being a super car salesman, money shouldn't be much of an issue. Go to the bank, tell them what you want i.e. high six figure home, GTR and a car of the wife's choice. I'm sure they'll throw as much money at you as desire. There, your problem is solved as others have done with your kind of money.

Budgeting and savings are more important. I want to buy the GTR mostly cash. Plus, I'm moving in the next few years, so I want to have something fun and nice that I can finance to keep my credit strong before I pay it off and give it to the lady. I'm young yes but I try not to be stupid with what I earn.

At that price point, I may as well keep my Evo. I do plan on doing a few mods like an exhaust/suspension tweaks and some aesthetics. I think the value/money on a sport/base is pretty excellent. Especially used.

R3V 03-28-2014 03:14 PM

So my Evo was stolen.

My wife and I will be looking at a FRS, 370Z, and a Mustang GT Premium.

I hate my Z. Worst car I have ever driven.

Said no one ever xD

But seriously man, not much more I can add to what's already been said..but since you have no kids for at least another few years...hands down get the Z. As long as you can live with its slight impracticality [2 seater, hardly any trunk space].
