Just Venting....

Whoever designed the process to remove the battery, should be burned at the stake !!!

Seriously, it took me 45 mins to remove and that's without following the complete directions from nissan (They wanted you to remove the wipers etc...)

Not a fun thing to have to do on a 10 degree day i'll tell ya. Plus just to add insult to injury, the plastic retainer snapped that holds to hood release in place. So now I have to hold the cable from under the dash, while popping the handle.

FML !

Thanks for letting me vent !

Lol what. Pop off battery cover, pull up rubber , pop clips on surrounding frame, unbolt battery and battery tie down, pull out battery. 15 minutes total including resetting windows and radio.

kenchan 01-30-2014 01:54 PM

Now whoever decided to put the main fuse box where it is should burn. Of course access to my convertible top, heated seats, etc is easy to access... :ugh2:

H2O_Doc 01-30-2014 02:12 PM

Remove the hood and you won't need to worry about the hood release.

If you have a manual tyranny, just push start and forget the battery. Or you could Flintstone-drive with a little floor cutting.

Some people see problems, I see solutions.

I like to take the battery out from beneath, just to add a challange. :p

Firebase99 01-30-2014 02:47 PM

Kenchan you MUST have a DIY for this...lol.

Firebase99 01-30-2014 02:47 PM

Was same way on the 350, what PITA to get to a battery.

6MT 01-30-2014 02:47 PM

You also need to remove the muffler bearings when you replace the battery.

diy: add distilled water with tattoo squeeze bottles every other year. plug into battery manager while car is not in use.

I changed my battery and connected a trickle charger to the bat wires when removing the other one, and put the new one in and voila! No data loss.
Of course they sell those little dongles that plug into the OBD port that are hit or miss on keeping the ECU/ECM powered up during no battery time.
Changing my battery took about 20 minutes counting lovingly coating the battery terminals with dielectric grease and putting those cute Red and Green useless battery corrosion inhibitors on there....plus cleaning out the battery tray trash, etc. Plus lovingly cleaning the gasket surfaces of the windshield plastic piece and the windshield in that area....OCD I know.
