And you don't need a tune for it either. If I were the OP I'd do an intake, HFCs, a pulley and a tune. Maybe Z1 or motordynes manifold. |

The shadiest of mechanics (one who is illegally in the US) quoted me $400, and a full day's labor. |

I got 322WHP without the headers, and I have an auto, not shabby if I do say so myself |

Once he starts wrestling with getting the stock headers and cats out, that quoted price will double. The only way I could ever see shorty headers being worth it is if I was willing to DIY the job. |

Yep. It's a bitch of a job for very little return. That labor cost is better spent somewhere else. Buy a set of 4.08 gears instead. |

Plus, gears would fly under the radar. The car won't look or sound any different so no one but you would know it had been done.

See what z1 recommends. You can call or do it over their website. |
If you haven't even graduated high school (I'm presuming) and you have a 370z, I consider you to be very lucky my friend. Don't screw it up.

There's lots of information on this site about upgrading. You should take some time and read through some posts in the Engine and Drivetrain section. Putting a little time and effort into modifying your car is necessary so you don't end up with a bad set up.
Here is some information about the Z1 Headers that will put you in the right direction: Z1's Site 400 HP Package Some general information |

Wait-the graduation you mentioned is high school? You don't need any power mods. You don't have the driving experience to handle the power you already have. Take that money and go learn to drive. Hpdes and AutoX before you mod anything.

If you do mod the car, use this as your chance to start learning to DIY mods. You'll have fun and save a fortune. Someone local would help you for pizza and beer.

See if you can talk the parents into sending you to a Skip Barber course at the nearest track to you. The closest one to you may be Road Atlanta, but Southwest Airlines will get you there for $200. It's not cheap, but it's by far the best money I've ever spent related to cars. Plus, you get to flog some really high end machinery. When I went, it was all Dodges, but now they've gone with more Euro stuff.

A driving school. You use their cars and their instructors. They use a bunch of tracks around the country. I'd recommend the 2 day high performance driving school to start. It's so much fun. You don't have to be 18. There were two sixteen year old girls in the course I took at Laguna Seca. Their dad wanted them to learn how to drive before they got their licenses. They learned to drive standard in a viper. Best dad ever.

It wasn't cheap. I'd expect it to be around $3k depending on airfare and lodging. But when you figure you're about to drop more than half that on performance parts and labor, it's a little easier to wrap your head around.

Get some instruction regardless of price. It can be as simple as having someone ride along at an AutoX. You've already got a very fast car that can get away from you in an instant. VDC is not going to always save you. You need to learn car control. The best thing I've learned from getting some professional instruction is how much room it takes to recover from a fuckup. That slowed me down a lot.
