Rear Ended!

Well last night on the way home from work, I was literally 1km from home and a woman behind me wasn't concentrating at the lights as drove right into the back of me. She admitted fault but the whole process with the Dubai Police was a nightmare.

Rear bumper is ruined, passenger side rear quarter panel is buckled, boot door is damaged, exhausts are blowing badly, rear lights smashed. Just hope there isn't any chasis damage and they right off the car!

Absolutely gutted - the car isnt even a year old!

DDamn that sucks man, Look at the bright side insurance will cut you a check and you could upgrade to amuse bumper..

DEpointfive0 01-14-2014 02:10 AM

Sorry. Time for a body kit and new exhaust

Good luck brother

axmea? 01-14-2014 02:19 AM

Good luck with repairs. If you decide to switch things around, Amuse rear and Ings +1 Wing and a nice exhaust. You will need to get new wheels if you go all out though. Stock wheels on a nice kit is ok but not great.

DEpointfive0 01-14-2014 02:21 AM

Free JDM tails!

Justice97 01-14-2014 06:55 AM

What a bummer.

Hope it all works out smoothly for you. I am sure it will but all the time and BS can truly be a drag.
Hope she looks better than new when you are done.

DOOMMONKEY777 01-14-2014 08:11 AM

looks like the frame shifted from the blow since the rear pass side wheel moved right in to the door, i think the hinges where the rear chassy holds shifted and shifted the frame i think its a total, and dont they stone women for something like that in dubai???

God-Speed 01-14-2014 08:27 AM

Sorry to hear about this hope that you are ok and be thankful that it was not any worst.

Shadezz 01-14-2014 08:41 AM

Looks worse then you think....+14k for repairs let's hope they total it and you can start fresh.. Glad you're okay...**** happens

TreeSemdyZee 01-14-2014 01:39 PM

Insurance will Fu*k you no matter what. probably end up costing more if you decide to receive their check, that check ain't gonna cover the entire repair most likely, because the check will be lowballed hard and not include the supplement fee most-likely. I think BEST thing to do is actually have it repaired with original parts and have insurance pay everything

Well following Nissan stripping the back end of the car and carrying out the estimate for the insurance companies, they have said that the total damage is AED 31,000 which is approximately $8,500 - keep in mind that labour is very cheap here and I am sure Nissan give the insurance a big discount on the parts. I'm not privi to the detail of the estimate until it has been approved which should hopefully happen in the next 48 hours so I can't give you the breakdown of what is going to be replaced.

One question I have is that Nissan said they will not replace the passenger side rear quarter panel. They said its connected to the chassis and to replace it they would have to cut it out, that smells like BS to me. They said they would just pull it out and repair it. Is this the right way to do it?

kidkotic2001 01-20-2014 09:21 AM

KettanLadd, I just did a quick search on the courtesy parts web site and I was able to look up the Rear fender. I am pretty sure that they can replace it and I cant see why they would have to cut it out.

Here is the link so you can check it out.

I'm pretty sure you've never seen an Amuse'd 370z in person. Because you would definitely be singing a different tune if you did.

Doubt it. The pictures do it enough justice.

It's just not my cup of tea, and it seems everyone is doing it so being OEM is being "different" now. ;)

The fact that they list a rh and lh item means that it's a replaceable item. Don't let them bs you on the repairs.

I feel your pain, I bought my 2012 Z Roadster on Jan 2, and some idiot pulled out in front of me this past Wednesday. My car will be in the shop for the next 3 to 4 weeks being repaired. His insurance is covering everything since he made an illegal turn across 2 other lanes of traffic.

KetanLadd 01-21-2014 05:23 AM

Thanks for the advice guys, really appreciate it!

Spoke to Nissan earlier today and made them agree to replacing the panel.

They said there was a lot of damage to the floor and to the center part of the exhaust. I am going to the dealership tomorrow to see the full estimate. Fingers crossed the insurance will give the approval tomorrow and they can get my car into the queue of jobs for repair. They said it will take a month to fix! That's going to be 5 weeks without my car.....maaaaaan!

Driving around a 1.3 Yaris at the moment, a small piece of my soul dies everyday!

Always add at least two weeks to the estimate.

It sucks, but it seems every time I've had something at the body shop they've taken two to three weeks longer than "expected".

The insurance companies can not dictate who fixes or how your car gets fixed.
If Nissan is fixing it, then they have no room to argue.
If they try and argue tell them to go talk to the driver they insured.

And make them give you a better car. The deal they work with the individual they insure has nothing to do with you.
