Looking at a 2014 370z

Hello Everyone ,
I am looking at getting a 2014 370z. I found one (gun Metal Gray) with
Sport Package. Cost is $31,500 plus tax. I have a couple questions.
1. Is that a fair Price ?
2. Is the Sport Package worth it or will I be just happy without it ?
3. Is there anything in particular I should ask or be looking at ?

Also , I am considering (as a cost cutting alternative) a used 2009 370z
that supposedly is loaded. (Nav included all though it looks like from the photos that it was added by the owner. I know it definitely has the Sport Package. It has 42,000 miles on it. It looks like (from the photos) it is in Excellent Cond. For $22,900.
Is that a good Price ?
Should I be worried about the Clutch (both are Manuals) ?
Should I go for the new one ?

I know I asked alot of questions but this is a big deal for me and I want to make the right decision. FYI , I'm coming from a 2010 WRX that I sold last summer. How the Z compare to it ?

I would appreciate any input any of you can give me on these matters.
Thank You all in advance !

I have both a 370z and a WRX and the difference between the two are insane. The Z is FAR more fun to drive for multiple reasons:

1. The power is MUCH greater
2. It corners better
3. The gearing is better
4. It just flat out looks better
5. It gets more attention

As far as the prices it is hard to tell someone what to get because we do not know your budget and what you can afford. I would say go for the new one because of the warranty and you know someone hasn't beat on it.

You absolutely want the sport package.

Hello Everyone ,

31.5k is pretty much invoice, not bad but you can do better, if there are no other options besides what you mentioned. If that is true you could probably still go lower. Truecar has a price of 29,682 for a new coupe, manual, with sp pkg and nothing else.

1. 31.5k isn't a bad price... Sticker is probably at least 33k. Does it come with anything else (floor mars)? I would try to at least get 2k off the car.
2. Sport package is definately worth it. You're going to miss the Rays, synchro rev, bigger brakes, LSD, spoiler, different dampers.
3. Nothing in particular really, but I'd look to see how many miles are on the new car. The lower the better.

Personlly, I would never buy a used sports car. Chances are they have been beaten on before being sold and you never know how they've been taken care of. I'm really picky about the condition of cars and whenever I went to look at used cars I always find scratches, dents, unusual wear that I know would drive me crazy. Unless you know the person selling the car, I personally wouldn't do it. However, if you do go used, take it to a mechanic to have the whole thing looked over. They'll be able to tell you a lot of things regarding the mechanical condition of the car. I too came from a 2010 wrx! The z is way more solid interior-wise and handling-wise. The z has a more linear power band and feels powerful though the whole rpm range. The wrx just felt fast from 4-6k rpm because of the turbo. You won't be disappointed with the z!

If you are looking to get it as your daily driver I would say you should go with an STI. In PA you have some nasty snow storms and you will want something that will take well to the snow. Get an STI with 2 sets of wheels, summer wheels and winter wheels. That way you will still have a decent amount of power and still be safe.

Not trying to talk you out of a Z because it is a GREAT car but I personally wouldn't drive one in the winter.

Ralph958 01-06-2014 09:33 AM

No , I would'nt be driving it in the snow.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. I made my Decision . If I get one , It
will be a new one with the sport package only. And I will beat the the dealer up to try and get for under 30K.

This my good sir sounds like a great plan! I hope you get one and I will see you at some meets, since you are only a state away :tiphat:

Go for the fangs edition.

But yeah if your going new, then get what you want on it and like you said knock that price down as best you can.

I bought used so I wasn't as picky and got a base. But I added the some parts that come on sports like, aero, wheels, and spoiler thru used parts market. Sport brakes and dampers aren't big deal for me but I do wish I had VLSD.

Tru car does not have a Sport for 29k. It's 34k.

You can get a BASE for 30-32 if you hold out. Anything less the car must be a 2013 or have been sitting on the lot for a LONG time.

34k is a good price for a Sport.

Chuck33079 01-06-2014 10:40 AM

I just priced out a base/sport for 31k on truecar.

damian_mb 01-06-2014 10:48 AM

Dont but the used Z, over priced! My 2012 sports package had 6K miles on it, dealer owner and I got the car as the first owner @ $27K. Might be because of where I live but look around.

I also own the Z and a 2013 WRX. Can't compare them, apples and oranges. Z is more of an all around pkg while the WRX is more of a grovery getter, for me atleast. Although I miss my Z as my WRX guzzles as much gas as a SUV.

LOL, either this website is whack or what!?

I went back there, now its spitting up $32,923!!

I don't get it... Is it a location based website? like it knows my zip code, and giving live market conditions??

I had to enter my zip code, so i would assume there's a location component to the price.

Used is nothing if its been taken care of. Last Jan I bought my 09 touring/sport/Nav setup for 23.5 from a dealer cause they didn't know what they had. It was owned by some super rich lady over in Tampa. I highly doubt she did anything hard to the car! Most 09's with nav last jan were around 30k used. So if you wana save tons of money, offer like 21 or so for the used car and get it. I did that and its freed up tons of cash for mods along the way while keeping the payments low!
