Nissan ships the cars with 60 lbs of pressure in the tires (no flat spots if they sit on the lot, less movement on the truck when transporting, etc.) Dealers are supposed to deflate them properly, but you guys are correct, it's not always done. I personally check all Zs myself on delivery, but plenty of other cars leave here with way too much tire pressure. We have 600 cars in stock, and when its this cold out, the mechanics certainly cant bring every car into the shop, and no one is standing outside to ensure everything is done properly.
|
The pressure really depends when you check it and the temperature, if I fill my tires on the honda crv at 32 psi in cold weather or sitting vehicle , they will read about 44 psi when the tires are hot or air temp is around 60 - 70 + degrees

37 Psi crew checking in
|
I checked my tire pressures today on my month old 370 they were all 4 were set to 47 psi I did notice the ride was pretty harsh over bumps and highway joints lol.
I set them to 35psi and it feels a hell of a lot better. |
I'm pretty sure they come from the mfg over inflated so they don't develop flat spots while shipping and sitting on dealers lots. A good dealer will know to check them before they give you the keys.

wow 47psi is 5psi higher than my hibernation setting. :icon17:

Nothing to worry about really. |
Dealer delivered the car to me with the right driver rear tire at something probably close to 80-100 psi. On the phone before picking it up they mentioned something about damage to the tire, so they were going to put a new one on for me. Obviously they forgot to deflate the tire after beading it because the tire bubbled within 15 minutes of driving off the lot. I'll post a picture up when I get home.

I always tell them "don't check the tires, don't wash it, and don't vacuum either" they are stupid, they screw up with tire pressure, they scratch the interior and exterior with their vacuum and half fast wash.
My other car is an BMW M and what a difference with service, in fact I wait for it to be filthy to take it in for service :) |

Here is a picture of the rear tire my dealer delivered on the car. This was about 20 min after driving it off the lot brand new and 10 min into having some fun and getting the tires warm :ugh:

^^^ i would be pissed if that was me
|
Don't think I wasn't
I drove back to the dealer on the spare, and the manager asked if I had called the tire manufacturer. He saw my reaction and quickly assured me they would be taking care of the matter. I took their courtesy Z to go back and pick up the bad tire since I wasn't willing to put it in the back of my brand new car. I got a couple of free oil changes out of them but haven't been back since. |
Happened to me too. Something I will always check before taking a car.

They set the tire pressure high due to strapping them down in shipping. They don't want to bottom them out when they crank down on the tie downs. Nissan puts yellow stickies on the tires so the PDI guys will be remember to set the tires to the door placard. Guess some folks don't have a clue.

When I bought the car I checked the pressure and all four tires where at 45 PSI, stupid dealers

That being said, plenty of dealers forget to deflate tires after shipping or remove the Nismo spring spacers. It's the nature of the stealership :ugh2: |

Be very careful with those $25 portable inflator things with a digital read out that automatically shuts off at a designated psi. Mine USED to be accurate when I bought it new, however, a few months ago I decided to fill my tires and discovered that it was off by 10 psi... I'm guessing that however the gauges work on those machines likely goes bad over time; Mine sits in the back area for emergency use, but I keep a normal gauge with me as well.
