Everyone notice the LED lighting at car part stores now?

Wow seems the new trend is LED lighting and lots of it. I was at a car parts shop and for $12.99 to $89.99 you can have strips of LEDs anywhere from 4" to 4' in all sorts of colors. Really bright. They even had a test button and little battery to see how bright they really are. Everything from single LED lights to light up a section of dash to ring lights to put around your headlight. I was actually quite surprised at the massive selection.

Before I run with any wild ideas I'd wnt to check here of course. All I want is running lights put into the interier indents of my headlight that run parallele with the hood. Those little dips are screaming to be lit up. Just not sure if this is the best way to do it.

your '14 already has the LED lights up front.
adding additional will be pretty bad.

I believe they're called 'landing strips'

and it can be done.

I was considering a strip of the lights for the trunk so the entire trunk lights up when I open her up. As it is now of course whatever ends up in there blocks the light. just don't know about lighting on the raised trunk part and the associated wiring.

Be very careful with LED's, easy to go overboard then you end up an internet sensation

Is that car on fire or something? I just want to see. I carry a small flashlight with me all the time but some car parts just need their own lighting.

you can replace the interior lamps with led and it will be much brighter in the car.

check out jw motoring a site sponsor. get the pod ones for the dome lights, very bright

winnre 01-03-2014 03:37 PM

I'd rather get interior lights that are red so as to not lose night vision.

Chuck33079 01-03-2014 03:40 PM

He has red LEDs for sale too.

I have the JWT ones they used to sell that are multicolor so I can have red light for normal operations, but when I need it, I can have super bright white light.

They are very buggy and don't like to work all the time, but I just use the remote and get them back into shape.

I don't believe JWT sells them anymore though... probably due to that. :ugh2:

It would be great to have the option of white or red. Maybe two buttons to push or something.

Chuck33079 01-03-2014 03:51 PM

Maybe make one of the dome lights red and the other white? It'll look odd when they're both on, but it would be functional.
