What is the spot just above where the rear fog light is supposed to go?

This evening when admiring my car I looked at the fog light and wondered WHY did they not put one in there. Then I noticed a little square a few inches above the fog light spot, a little square that looks like it can pop out. See it here?

Anyone know what it is for? (Pic is not my car)

I've seen similar "inserts" like that on other cars. I was wondering what these were also. Maybe something to do with wiring behind the bumper?

Akbubba47 11-29-2013 01:25 AM

Frame sensor is located there.

What exactly does the frame sensor sense for?

winnre 11-29-2013 01:36 AM

I just googled "370z rear frame sensor" and this thread was the #1 hit already!

Yea but I still want an answer!

I believe it's where they put the factory camera. I just installed an aftermarket infrared keyhole camera in that spot by popping the piece out and drilling a hole in it and mounting the camera in it. I ordered a new cover to test drill with and the cover is called "NISSAN OEM 850101EA0A Rear Bumper-Tow Bracket Cover" but I'm not sure about the whole tow bracket thing on a Z.

Definitely not where the rear camera goes

I believe that is for the rear tow hook...but if you pop it for US models is nothing behind the cover.

Wonder if I can put a laser jammer back there....

That's the panel for the optional rear oil slick.

There's also some "blank" button inserts on the center console for the optional rocket launcher and front machine guns.

Sadly, neither were options in the US; UK MI6 options only.

All we get is VDC on/off.

Could you please tell what brand trailer this is. The ones I have found that are light weight, are very small.
Thanks

The factory camera mounts above the license plate, close to the hatch button.

To haul your track tires around in. There is a write up on here someplace.

On cars imported to other countries. If you pop that cap off. That is where you would screw the tow hook into. On US Z's. We do not have the block of alumunim welded to the the bumper susport that the tow hook would screw into.
