Warning lights during spirited driving??
Hey guys, in the last couple of weeks I noticed an on going issue with the warning lights in my dash. During spirited driving, the brake and vdc off/ slipping tire lights flash. However, during normal driving this seems to be a non-issue. I would also like to add that the brake light flashes and goes away on its own after a couple of seconds. Meanwhile, the vdc off/slipping tore light stays on until I shut the car off and turn it back in. I found the same exact issue*on a 350z forum, but found no conclusive remedy. They suggest it has something to do with the brake fluid being low, but this does not explain the vdc light. Can anyone shine in on this? My car is out of warrantee and know these fixes could be expensive.
Thanks* P.S. The article on the 350z forum can be found here:*Warning lights appeared during spirited driving! - 350Z Technical - 350Z & 370Z UK |

...did you check your brake fluid? :icon17: |

The most likely culprit is the brake fluid. If the fluid level is less than 3/4 full, go ahead and top it off.

Top off your brake fluid. Problem solved. But the jokes will keep coming.

I had this from a leaking diff seal causing dirt/grim build-up on my abs sensor. Most likely low fluid though.

Quick question. Does it matter which brand of Dot 3 brake fluid I use? (planning to just add on to my current fluid) Or is it recommended to use Nissan Dot 3 fluid?

Since you drive hard enough to to have this happen, I too recommend DOT 4. Change out the clutch fluid at the same time. |
I use Ate Super Blue (now banned in the US).

I've had this problem off an on for years (no its not my brake fluid top-off). My rear diff had a small leak on the side seal which was getting my abs sensor dirty enough to fail.
I fixed the leak and cleaned the sensor and ... problem solved. sometimes it comes back when there is a lot of mag chloride (used to melt highway snow like salt) buildup under the car. Hitting it with some water at the car-wash seems to fix the issue until it gets dirty again. |
