Please let me know. I need help ASAP.
I have been trying to sell my 2011 Nissan 370z pw with a bunch of options installed onto it with low mileage and still under factory warranty for 8 months and people keep low balling me. I tried autotrader and craigslist and even KBB. My price is 24,000. I have the cheapest PW z with the mileage I have in all of Cali. Why is no one buying it?
|
you a smoker?
get appraised at carmax. |
I don't smoke or have kids. I only put 3,000 miles on the car and bought this car pre certified about 9 months ago from Infiniti dealer. Carmax offered me 22k. That is way too low.

the longer you wait, the lower their offer will be. the market isn't very strong for sports cars right now so... completely up to you though. :) |
Exactly what options do you have? Sounds like your asking price is fair..
|
I have Illuminated kick plates, front and rear painted splash guards, rear stock factory spoiler. Yeah i thought it was fair since it is the cheapest 2011 pw z in cali plus it is lower than kbb by 400 bucks.
|
Seems fair to me.. I paid 25K for my PW touring 6MT a little under 2 years ago.. 10k miles on the clock
|
$22,900 is the KBB "fair" value on a base Z. $24 seems like a pretty good deal for a car with only 3K miles if the paint is in perfect shape.
Maybe you need a new detail and sealant to take out any swirls and really make the paint shine. Or maybe you need your wife (or a hot girl) to do the selling to private parties to get them to agree to that extra few $s. |
My car is in very good condition and if not at least good condition. It is so clean in and out and has no defects anywhere. I hand waxed and washed erry week since I got the car and only filled up with chevron premium and it is stock.
|
The car has 20,000 miles, but I put 3k on it after buying pre certified from dealer
|
in other words TXspeedemon is saying sell your wife with the car.

I am the second owner and the car has 21,000 miles on the car now and it is 2011 NIssan 370z Pearl White base model with a buncha factory options installed onto it and it is 7 speed auto. Clean carfax and all service records available and their are no mods. It is stock besides window tint.
|
At 23k miles a $22K offer isn't that bad. $24K is best case scenario with no $ mods (like expensive rims).
I think the fact that you are 20 and selling is hurting you. People may assume the car has been thrashed a bit and you are selling cause something is wrong. If I were your age and in your shoes I would try to get my parents to sell it for me. Buyers are gonna feel a lot more comfortable buying a sports car from a 50+ year old then a 20 yr old. If that's not an option for you it might be best to simply bite the bullet and take the offer closest to what you want. |

i just said 'oh i c' meaning, no wifey to sell with the car, hummm... trying to brainstorm more ideas for you. |

Base NO sport pkg. & no manual trans. with normal, NOT low mileage. Second owner. |
yah, no sport package does put a dent in the discussion.
i would sell at $22K carmax. go today and you might get $22,750. |

I'm looking at 2012's with 5k, 8k, & 12k one owner
For $25k to $26k.
One man's low balling is another man's market value. It's worth what you can get... |
If you do True Market value for your car,
Trade in value: 22,243 Private Party: 23,793 Dealer Retail: 25,201 True market value is based on what the same car has been selling for in your area. 22K is right on the spot. If you owe more, you are most likely going to have to take a hit. |

If you can get $22k, my opinion, grab it! |
check page 2
There's a guy trying to get $25,500 for a black, 6spd, one with sports pkg. & only 11k.
|
Use KBB or autotrader to see what similar Z's are going for in your area. If your price is in the ball park, be patient -- it wiil sell.
Also, what mods do you have -- they can work against you when trying to sell. Also, keep in mind, times are (and have been) tough for the average person -- probably fewer folks shopping for sports cars in general at the moment... |
before i buy my 2012 month ago i have done a lot of reseach, they are dealers that have same z cars sitting in their dealers for a few months and that is not good news, some over priced and some ok price but not able to move them, i know as a fact i was looking at a cherry red touring 2011 with 16k miles and they dropped the price to 26700 and that car still there!!
demand is not as high in sport cars and specially 2 seater and it could be the area you live too.. i paid 25900 for my 2012 sport pk. excellent conditon with only 19 k.. i think the price you are asking is fair price, don't feel bad i have advertised few motorcycles on craigslist and all i got was bunch of lowballers.. |
Considering a new base is 30k, the Carmax offer isn't bad. As for your upgrades, illuminated kickplates and splashguards aren't big nice upgrades. I would consider them more like normal and if you don't have them, you sort of cheaped out (at least for the splash guards). You basically have a base with normal potions. I agree with kenchan that Carmax isn't a bad deal.

Marketed is getting flooded with new cars coupled with good rebates, making it harder to sell used cars.
For this particular segment is getting competitive with competition pushing both from the top and bottom and middle echelons. Nissan surely needs to rethink the pricing for the next gen, there is a problem when a loaded nismo is pushing 45k when you can get a c7 vette for a little more. Also not helping that hyundai and other bottom feeder manufacturers nipping at Z sales with their sporty coupes. Probably not helping that the next gen Z is going to be revealed next month... Honestly right now is a buyers market for sports cars, 22k does seem a little low though, considering that a new civic si is close to that mark. |

Good points.. I remember when I lease my new 1995 supra t. Turbo the sticker was 50k then.. well lack of sales forced them to drop the msrp to 37k in 97 and then end of supra after that.. |
:iagree:

Also, you're trying to sell a sports car in late October when winter weather starts kicking in. The best time to sell a sports car is in May/June (even in CA). Best wishes on the sale! |

Hate to bring this thought, but most people want manual in a car like this. I know a lot of people have and like the autos, but they're (auto) going to be a little harder to sell IMO.

only enthusiasts want a car like this in manual(here at least) @OP you're asking too much for the car sell it in the summer how come you're selling if you ask me? im also 20, in college, working and i have been making payments on my Z for over a year now |
The Z is not practical. It is a toy. An amazing impractical toy! There is a small market for amazing impractical toys.
