Good Laugh for you guys.....

Soooo Ive had my Nismo for about 3-4 weeks, and I absolutely love it. I am still getting use to the whole push to start thing and not really needing your keys other than having them on you. So today I went to a local Best Buy and parked all the way in the back like usual. So I park, grab the keys, and walk into the store..:ughdance: well luckily I was in the store for no longer than 10 min because as I was coming back to my car, I opened the door, and realized I never turned off the car!!! :rofl2::rofl2:

Needless to say, the Z has another thing added to her Christmas list.....An exhaust!;)

OliverLewis 10-20-2013 08:28 PM

Haha that is something I'll have to remember once I get my new Z!

/Angelo350Z/ 10-20-2013 08:46 PM

I can't say I've done this before :icon18:. What exaust are you going to get?

ZeroZeta 10-20-2013 10:25 PM

I'm just glad the car was there when you got back!

Elan 10-21-2013 12:32 AM

The car should b*tch at you if the keys leave the vehicle while it's still running. How did that happen?!

NismoZ70 10-21-2013 08:23 AM

I seem to always drop my keys in the car (like along the side of the seat) and then not knowing so I try locking the doors. Luckily it doesn't allow you to do that because by now I probably would have locked my keys in the car like 20 times.

ElVee 10-21-2013 08:30 AM

I worry about this somtimes, though yes the car beeps at me when I leave with the keys and it's running. But other than that, it is a quiet car at idle and the lights aren't a giveaway since they stay on anyway for a bit.

kenchan 10-21-2013 10:18 AM

:eekdance:

FortuneLSX-TT 10-21-2013 10:29 AM

You'll get used to it fast. When I go to drive other cars now, I get confused.
I'm like, "Hey where's the button to start it?" It's most noticeable when I drive the g/f's 350Z.

10MPlayer 10-21-2013 10:42 AM

I was always losing mine like NismoZ70. Then I discovered the fob holder thingy. I try to make it a habit to put the keys there because it'll beep a little, not too loud, until you take the keys out of the slot when the engine's off. Now, about leaving the car running, never done that one yet. But I can see it happening.

Justice97 10-21-2013 11:46 AM

I still walk out without my keys.....half way to store OH CRAP!!!

kidkotic2001 10-21-2013 12:28 PM

I did this one time went to Target to pick up detergent and I could have sworn that I had turned it off but apparently I never did. I was in and out which was good but I was freaking out for a while.

coolvans1988 10-21-2013 12:54 PM

On my Altima it gives a loud beep when the car is on and i walk out with the keys. Or once the car is off and i walk out without my keys.

Forgot if the Z does the same.

still deciding between Meisterschaft, HKS or Fast Intentions

2xtreme1 10-21-2013 03:32 PM

LOL. I have not done this yet, its kinda hard to not hear the car on when you walk out. Even with just stock exhaust, you still here the engine and what not. I do, however, fear the day that I somehow turn on the car and drive away without the key being on me no more. It does alert you when you are in the car and there is no key, but I still worry I will take off without they key on me anymore and get stranded somewhere! lol

ZeroZeta 10-21-2013 05:19 PM

I picked up a lanyard for my keys. Highly recommended if you have any worries about leaving them behind/in the car. I just throw it on like a set of dog tags and call it done.

Apoc370z 10-21-2013 06:39 PM

Its not the push to start button on the z that gave me problem, its trying to find the push to start button on other cars i drive that made me laugh at myself

olddudesrule 10-21-2013 06:51 PM

Go Fast Intentions and you'll never leave it running again!

Magic Bus 10-21-2013 08:07 PM

Tazrek, Funny story. Question though, because you drive a Nismo, don't you normally put it in a gear before shutting it off or is leaving it in neutral plus handbrake secure enough for you?

My Z will do the fast multi-step beep if i walk away from the car while the car is running with the key on me.................and that'll alert me, get back to the car........it's loud enough to hear it.

OP; did you not get that beep?
Or did you leave the FOB in the car too while it was running?

nmjaxx9 10-21-2013 09:32 PM

Well someone let the cat out of the bag on this. LMFAO. :inoutroflpuke:

I did the exact same thing last month. Not turning a key has taken some getting used to.

I've actually done that twice. :ugh2:

Glad you love your car. The experience only gets better with time.

Tell me about it. I've had the car six months and I still reach for ignition keys to turn the car off sometimes...lol.

Could it? I THINK the Z will disable itself if the keys arent being read. Maybe someone could get in (not sure about that either, might lock itself if its not seeing the fob), but pretty sure its disabled when keys arent readable and you attempt to drive away.

Then again maybe not, i vaguely remember forgetting my keys in my house while it was running and pulled out of the driveway...i THINK.

You can drive it away without the key... not sure how far or how fast. I just know you won't be able to turn it back on after you turn it off without the key.

tonythetiger 10-22-2013 11:43 AM

fast intentions for sure, never had that happen to me since my exhaust is purtty loud! lol

You can absolutely drive away without the key, and the car will perform as normal... only problem is once you shut it off your not gonna be able to start it back up obviously. My mom did this in her MB CLS.. had to call AAA and get a tow home! lol

:iagree: I've done this before. I had the keys on me in my pocket but actually it was my dad who was driving the car. He dropped me off at the front of the store and then parked pretty far back to wait for me. The car kept going but it did tell him that there were no keys as he drove away. Of course once he turned off the car he was unable to turn it back on to listen to the radio as he waited. Nothing was disabled though till that point of him turning off the car.
