2014 Nismo..with optional leather seats and AT

I just found out Japan has way more options for the Nismo compared to the US. Which is still better than Canada, since we don't even sell it any more.

I came across this video, which got me curious when I saw the paddles.

I can't read Japanese, but you can still navigate around the site and look at the pretty pictures.

?????????Z [ Z ] ????&???????/SUV ? NISMO

I could be wrong but I believe it's been the case for some time that the Nismo in Japan had some different options that we don't have here. I believe navigation was one of the others that you could get there.

You are correct.

Amuse370z 10-19-2013 11:35 PM

Yup, looks like it. I always knew they had a little more options than us, but I didn't know they offered it in AT as well.

I probably would've gotten a Nismo if I could have the leather seats and bose.

No cruise control,no audio switch on the steering wheel...base sport model with Nismo body kit.?Maybe.?

takjak2 10-20-2013 07:52 AM

It does have the 2014 Nismo Steering wheel and inverted redline on the tach. I doubt this is a converted base. But why would you put an auto in the Nismo? /purist

Interesting to note the little flairs on the rear wheel arches...

Because 7AT purchasers might like a little more stock HP too?

The Japanese crack me up. Seiko keeps their best optioned watches there, Nissan keeps the best optioned cars there. I don't know if its sales volume marketing or something more... cultural, but having lived there a few years (Okinawa) I always get a kick out of how they seem to keep the very best of what they manufacture in country.

Please don't flame me too hard for this ( I know you will anyway) but I feel like the Japanese marketing/export people figure the rest of the world is a bit too barbaric to appreciate the best they have to offer.

Many of the watches and knives and other high end Japanese products (Z anyone?) I buy are only available in japan, with only lower end versions available in the US market.

It is often necessary to go to Japan to buy the things I cannot get exported. (I do this now and then as I travel professionally)

I'm pretty sure Japanese companies don't export what you consider their very best products simply because the profit margins are smaller in our markets. I'm guessing shipping products overseas is quite expensive. I'm also pretty sure they don't think the rest of the world is too barbaric to appreciate their merchandise. If a Japanese company found it would be profitable to export merchandise, and they didn't have any legal/financial barriers, they would do it. Don't take it personally ;)

SurfDog 10-20-2013 09:16 PM

You are probably right, but I have run into this quite a few times with many products. It may be I'm just reacting to the poor treatment I received in the USMC during my years living over there. It is a fairly subtle feeling of disdain for non locals. My sensitivity about marketing to non-Japanese likely stems from that.

i wouldnt mind having a right hand drive z

Tazicon 10-22-2013 12:23 PM

I would have bought a Nismo if it had an AT, not only becauise of my wife but because of me.

Wife driving a Nismo??? Nooooooooo :) :)

I specifically got a car in a manual so that my wife couldn't drive it. It's my toy...haha

kidkotic2001 10-22-2013 02:19 PM

I would have gotten a NISMO if it had Bose system with XM and leather seats.

That's true^^^^and they do it for good reasons.
As our population becomes more of a Walmart/Mcdonald/food stamp/welfare society, Japan & others are catering to that growing group. That's why Chinese products are dominating our markets. Making money/profit rules.

Chuck33079 10-22-2013 02:53 PM

If the Nismo had the interior of the touring and nav, one would be in my garage right now.

kenchan 10-22-2013 03:33 PM

most j-folks these days dont know how to drive MT...sadly. this is probably why they need to include the AT's.

in j-land you have to have a special MT driver's license to drive MT cars. stupid? yes. smart? yes.

I have heard that Okinawa is like that, I've traveled to Japan pretty extensively for work and have found that is generally not the case with mainland Japan, however Okinawaians have that disdain for Japanese and do not consider themselves Japanese either

You can get a Nismo with a Bose system and XM. Just can't get the leather seats however at least for me I wouldn't be too concerned about choosing a car based on a leather seat option. Things like overall looks and performance as well as driving enjoyment is what I was looking for when I was considering a whole bunch of other cars before I got mine.

Not to mention that a Nismo version with all those options would be over 50k. I'm not saying they wouldn't sell a couple here, but I think people would start looking at other models. At 50k, I know I'd start seriously looking at Porsche's Cayman.

Well honestly a 40K+ Nissan should have Leather, Bose, and Nav... :ugh2:

NissanGuy23 10-22-2013 07:01 PM

I love to have nav in my nis, ive disappointed so many people go get into the passengers seat when they find out its just a cubby. I dont know they always expect treasure to be behind that door and im like nope just a empty box in the dash

Completely agree with you. :) There should be those features for the price. However on the other side of it, the quality of my navigation and sound system that I have far exceeds the factory navigation and Bose system so in that respect I'm glad I don't have them in the car. I wouldn't be very happy with either of them after being around a couple friends who have it in their Touring models as well as hearing others thoughts on the matter. Leather would be nice though

Same here. Or if the 40th had the nav.

I was always quite surprised that the 40th didn't have the nav given that everything else seemed to be included in the car. Again its a situation where it was offered outside of the US but for whatever reason not here.
