This leads to a question I have always had. How would you hide an "intelligent" key in the Z?

Last year, while we were in Moab, Utah, my G/F lost the intelligent key to her Toyota. I got that sinking feeling that I should have hidden a spare in the car. I made many calls locally and realized just how screwed we were.

A day later, the key turned up (kicked way under the hotel bed). WHEW!

But I have learned the lesson. Now, I have the spare "mechanical" key hidden on the exterior, and the spare "intelligent" part hidden inside, with the key's battery removed and hidden inside as well.

Life was so much simpler in the good old days.

I think it is cheaper to do that than get everything redone, no?

I stopped losing my keys after I put a basket next to the front door. Every time I unlock the front door, and before I turn off the alarm, I drop the keys into said basket and they are there when I leave the next day too.

No more hunting and no more washing them either.

I would think so. They will rape u because they can. I mean, what other option will I or anyonw have if I have no keys? Towing to the dealer would be a grip, then to have them hack the computer sofware and then program a key would cost a azz rape amount i would think.

I'm trying to find me an intelikey. I'm not sure if I can do it with only 1 key. I heard that sometimes they require 2 keys for them to be able to reprogram another key. Sounds like BS but eh.. idk I also heard that they just simply charge a 1/2 labor fee or 1hr labor fee for the 10 minute reprogram job. I guess I will find out soon enough.

As for the metal plate thing with the programing ##.. I ran to my car and searched everywere when I read that post. I don't see one anywhere.. DOH!!

I dont know what Nissan wants for a new key, but my wife just got a 2013 Daytona Charger R/T and they told her not to misplace her keys because they charge $700.00 for a new key and programming. When I found that out my jaw hit the damn floor:eek2: Good luck....;)

If you lost one key, understandable i guess.
Lose both? C'mon man. Your worse than my little sister.

But like someone said before, opt for the flatbed.

You should start patting your pockets before you leave anywhere, I always pat my pockets to see if I have the 3 most important things: Cellphone, Wallet, Keys.

When I have cargo pants, I do an exquisite dance in front of restaurants/house/school/work/girlfriend to see if I have the above 3 items.

Seached the house and couldn't find the key then suddenly my eye caught the laundry room door and I realized that I had washed my jeans that morning! Haha.

Luckily, after frantically seaching the jeans and washer I realized I had left my keys in the car because I had been working on it.

Shut up! I'm old.

:shakes head:

I have washed my key before and nothing happens, I have done it more than once. Key works every time.
