I got one in ohio for my exhaust on my 05 civic being too loud. The actual ticket was operating an unsafe motor vehicle, because apparently it was so loud i wouldn't be able to hear sirens etc

Ohh they will gladly give you a ticket for a loud exhaust that = Money to them

The thing you have to do is refuse it trust me on this Like I said I talked to my AUNT who is a Lawyer in the Chicago area and there is no such thing... They just use it to get revenue.

There is a Db limit in some city ordanaces but no real state wide law that im aware of..

I get the stare, 'cause I only have one plate on the rear. Can't get myself to drill holes in the front. Asked why don't cops ticket loud motorcycles? Because they own Harleys too, and it's a "safety" thing.Try sleeping when a bike goes by with 120db bouncing off the walls.Excuse me for whining, I have issues with that.

MY Rx7 got 3 loud exhaust tickets within a 3 months of putting on my exhaust, even after I showed the cops that I've already been ticketed. I have friends who have American cars with louder exhausts and never been ticketed -_-

I feel your pain but I don't care for that loud exhaust so I can't start a petition. But maybe someone here should start at least an online petition or a PAC. If you want something done you get a group of like-minded people and threaten pole-ticians with campaigns against them. I guess nobody that owns an exciting car is excited by politics.

Even counties can set their own.

LOL...#2 and 3 were "slow Learner" Tickets...;)

It's all about what you do with it.

If it sounds like a ricer, you'll get tagged with a fine.

If it sounds good, AND not insane, AND you're not revving the engine or being otherwise obnoxious with it - no problem.

I have loud pipes on my motorcycle. Loud enough that after a couple hours with a helmet my ears are ringing a BIT - riding in a parking garage it sounds like a AAA Dragster launch when I drop the hammer - lol...and it has caused a couple of cars to chirp when I hammer it in said parking garage. ;)

But, I've never had any trouble with the cops because I'm not an asshat with it.

On top of that, cities have ordinances...city > county > state > federal.....but in terms of strictness, whoever's more strict wins.

It's amazing how little trouble you want to cause when there is a 20% chance the person is packin, lol.
If I lived in a place where I felt the need to carry a weapon I'd move.

On the exhaust note I have a fairly high tolerance for noise during the day. My neighbor will occasionally fire up his boat, super charged big block Chevy, to check it out prior to going to the lake. It is fun to hear that engine but there are those that will call the police.

I have no tolerance for the guy with the Harley and straight pipes gong down the street at 2:00 AM.

As someone whose age qualifies him as a Senior, I can state unequivocally that Seniors never bitch about loud exhausts - we can't hear them. :rofl2:

I know in Ga you don't get tickets for loud exhausts... you get tickets for racing or as the police officer told me Exhibition driving which is the same as racing. Ohh and i didnt use a blinker for an emergency lane change so I got wreckless driving and I got arrested.:shakes head: Cops in my opinion are extremely shady in some areas! At the time of that ticket I had an 07 s2000 fully built with a single 80mm exhaust at 129 db :happydance: it sounded like a freaking le mans car going down the road ohhhhh God did I love bridges/tunnels with the top down! Anyway just to give you another example I got a ticket for window tint by a cop going the opposite direction at 55mph...:shakes head: I know exactly what % my tint is 20% I saw the label on the box when it was installed!!! The cops machine said I had 14-15% talk about corruption! First, there was no way he could tell my tint was below the legal limit @ 55mph going the opposite direction. (legal limit is 32% BTW) Secondly they calibrate their machines low so even if you do have legal limit you are guilty in their eyes and have to go to court anyway.

The bad part about all this is that no matter if your guilty or not you as a citizen lose... Follow me on this. If your guilty you get a ticket and have to go to court. If your innocent you may still get a ticket and you have to go to court. However, If your innocent and you prove yourself to be and the state is at fault. You do not get any recourse against the state for wasting your time and making you lose money... now thats some serious BullSh*t!!!! I think if the government wrongfully makes you go through the system they should be fined the amount they were going to fine you... but this can be a double edge sword. One your guilty no matter what or two they become honest for once and stop being F'ng tax collectors...
