I have both, the Cayman is an amazing car but you pay for it. For the price the 370Z cant be beat.

And to edit: The Z has more room in the back than my G37 coupe did in the trunk. A lot more. With only 2 people in our family these days the Z makes for a great DD for the wife and we use it for groceries etc, I can fit a lot in it. More than many people realize.

The only one better that I have driven was a 2013 Z435is DCT, that thing was quick shifting and smooooooooooooth.

...you could also put it in 2nd at a stop.

I'm really curious though, how do you guys deal with making turns in the Z from a stop? Turn slowly and keep it under 3k at 1st gear? Shift to second as you are turning using the stick shift? Because you definately cannot use the paddles mid turn as your hands won't be able to reach.

I get the feeling that the paddles were designed for the track and not practical use on the streets.

Why would you worry about keeping it under 3k , it redlines at 7.5k & This engine loves the revs. I have not had trouble upshifting mid turn.

YMMV

If I have issues I just short shift first, but really just put yourself into drift mode and you will be fine.

Slightly offtopic in regards to price and value. Have you guys seen the as tested price on an IPL G37? Good gawd I'd never want to pay over $51k for that thing. In regards to the phrase "you get what you pay for," I personally don't think this is the case with the G37.

Is that what "D" stands for with the 7AT?

I guess I drive like a grandpa and don't really want to get on it. I shift normally at 3-4k, rarely 5.

I don't see the point of reving it to 4.5k if I'm just making a left turn from a stop sign either. I also prefer not to shift in the middle of a turn...

Understandable, I drive that way a lot around town as well, but in the canyons, it's rev time ;)

Oh well, I remembered why I didn't like the 370z just by sitting in one. I don't like the rear visibility or, shall I say, lack thereof. Backing out of my garage and parking spots with horrible visibility is not something I want in a vehicle.

I guess the search continues. Thanks for the input everyone!

Man it's something u have to adjust to . Coming from wrx read 4dr sedan . Visibility is going to be weird at first sitting in a car like the z. But once you live with it, u will adjust to the dimensions and be whipping around like nothing.

Plus I thought back up cam is option these days?

Chuck33079 10-09-2013 07:42 PM

Backup cam and properly adjusted mirrors=no visibility issues.

The horrible rear view was one of the many things I couldn't stand about my 2006 Mehstang GT and I found the Z to be WORSE!

That won't help my rear peripheral view when backing out of a parking spot though.

It only took me four years of test driving nearly everything under the sun to replace that Mehstang, so I'm thinking it may take a while before I decide on what to replace the WRX with. I'd rather live with the knee discomfort than end up buying a car that isn't a decent fit!

U don't pick the z , the z picks you.
Outside the box .....Fx50 Infiniti or srt jeep
