Need opinions !

Hey guys!
Recently got my Z about 3 weeks ago.
For my first mod, I want to vinyl wrap the hood. I was thinking 3M Brushed Black Metallic on a brilliant silver model.

I looked all over online to see if there was anyone who used that vinyl on just their hoods but usually what I'm getting is entirely wrapped cars.

What do you guys think?? Any advice/opinions are appreciated. :tiphat:

Fuk the vinyl wrap get a clear bra, this paint sucks

I think there may be one or two of those around...hopefully one of them will chime in. ;)

A clearbra is a good idea too if you decide against the hood wrap

I'm actually getting a clear bra installed on my bumper only on Thursday. Shish is expensive !

But I guess you guys don't like the vinyl wrapping? haha

Meh-don't get discouraged.sometimes it takes a few hours for people to find new threads. Sorry I can't help more.
And yes-clearbra is expensive...:( i didnt get one-ugh. Front end beat to h3ll.

^ same , a year or two down the road I am respraying the bumper and putting a clear bra on at the same time

The money expended on the Z for the 3M clear bra is worth it. My 2009 still looks like new.

The clear bra is pricey, but worth every penny. Especially with how easy Nissan paint chips.

He was also asking about a hood wrap...what you guys think about that?! Anybody got links to other member pics?

Any kind of protection you can put on the front end will be beneficial. A vinyl wrapped hood may look like a poor man's attempt at a carbon hood but it's your ride so you do what you want. +1 on the clear bra. Almost two years later and my next weekend off I'm going to attempt Dr.colorchips on my hood and bumper.

Thanks guys ! I think I'll just save up money for a carbon fiber hood. But for now definitely going to put on that clear bra. I was thinking even on the front fenders too

I have the clear bra. It is expensive, but if I did not have it, then I wouldn't be enjoying my car the way I do.

If you a) don't care about your paint job b) are objective about touching-up the paint as necessary, then the clear bra might be unnecessary excess.

If you're going to do the clear bra, I recommend going the extra mile. Front bumper, front fenders, a-pillars, entire hood, and even the rear fenders. My first two rock chips were far up the hood near the windshield and on the driver side a-pillar, which are two locations people sometimes choose to omit when they get a clear bra. I would have been pissed if I had spent the dealer-quoted $1200 for 1/3 hood coverage and had that chip show up in the first month of ownership.

I did not opt for the clear bra because I was too cheap at the time. The Z was our first time to have a second car payment, so I was a little timid spending so much money. I do not obsess over the paint because it is a DD (I would go nuts), but I do my best to take care of it and figure I'll have anything professionally fixed when the car is no longer a DD. Do I like the massive number of tiny chips in my front bumper and front of the hood? No, but almost none of the defects are noticeable from more than 24" away. That's good enough for me for now - I just finished a full interior and exterior detail (long overdue) and she looks spectacular :yum:

I think a wrap is great way to change up the style to match one's personality. I personally love the gun metallic and would not change a thing :tiphat:

You are still here?

Dr.Colorchip is a little cheaper than a clear bra.
