Front/Rear Bumper/Fender Molding Paint Flaw

So I wanted to do a Poll to track the paint flaws alot of us are having to see if it warrants a TSB from Nissan.

This is a multiple Choice Poll, so you can choose all the corners you are having paint problems with...

Mods can we add a Poll option that says "No corner paint defects" or something to this effect?

ZForce 08-08-2009 05:57 PM

I have both the Platinum Graphite and Red and see no flaws in the paint. Therefore my vote would not count for your poll. Interesting that a lot peeps are having paint issues. Do you have pics to post up?

there is a thread started on this issue here.

http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...t-defects.html

The nismo at the local dealership even had the same defect...

kdo2milger 08-08-2009 07:39 PM

mine is the rear right where the plastic bumper meets the fender, there is a small bit of paint missing from the plastic bumper at the tip.

I will try and get a pic and update here...

rudi 08-08-2009 07:49 PM

I don't have the paint issue. However, looking closely I noticed that along the edges of all the panels on the plastic parts where they meet up with the metal panels, there is a clear plastic film under the clear coat. I wonder if this is fix from Nissan for this problem.

kdo2milger 08-08-2009 07:52 PM

alright, heres 6 pictures of my right rear

Thanks I will bump over to the thread.

Holly...bat..poop....those pics and the paint chipped are very noticeable. That is totally unacceptable and I would be all over the stealer ship and if no resolution, then I would be on the phone with NNA (Nissan North America) Consumer Affairs. I have them on speed dial since my oil consuming 06 350Z.

Q: I take it the paint chipped way after you took delivery? As this size of a chip would be noticeable on a walk around during delivery to you

LattimerII 08-08-2009 09:02 PM

A choice for no problems at all would make this poll more useful.

No paint flaws on my finish. I just detailed & waxed it. The paint is almost perfect. My color is Carbon Silver (same as the USA Platinum Graphite).

Since my paint is OK, I didn't vote.

Pushing_Tin 08-08-2009 10:42 PM

I've had my car since January and the paint has no flaws. I'd like the poll to include those that DO NOT have flaws so we can see just how rare it is.

Also flaws by color might be interesting as well. Mine is black.

i didnt notice it on the walk around...so i cant honestly say for sure that it was already there or developed after the fact...nontheless it is there...

understood...however this poll was created for those with the bumper defects to gage the possibility of getting a TSB released...

very good point!

i dont know if mods can update this poll to reflect defects by color, but it may very well prove useful for data collection

Yes some colors could be more durable or more prone to fail. Who knows....

Orange peel...
There's a hair in my paint on the back bumper piece...or is it the hatch...

Dunno...

Driver's side fender/bumper chip on Blue. Wasn't chipped on delivery. Possible flaw in the molding?

TheWeatherman 08-09-2009 03:13 AM

It almost looks like the thing got lightly hit on the bumper, pushed it forward, then the bumper scraped the fender. I have solid red and no flaws whatsoever here. Everything lines up perfectly.

But if you add that option and it turns out that only 2% of voters have issues, a TSB is not going to happen. I still think you should add that option so we can see how big of a problem this really is.

Ture, I will be looking at mine more closely this morning and also to see if there is a clear film placed there by Nissan from a statement by rudi. It would be interesting if Nissan already discovered this after the first few thousand mfg'd and took steps to correct future production runs. I would also be interested to see this film Nissan placed on rudi's car.

zylont 08-09-2009 09:36 AM

A crap, I meant to click front left (driver side).

Zerafian 08-09-2009 10:21 AM

wow! those chips on the your car are awful...Its to bad excitement of buying it overweighted inspecting the car that close....Im pretty sure no one would heh.

I suppose at this point theres not warranty coverage on that.

I dont have the option under edit to add the extra Poll line, so i asked if the mods could add it for us...

OKC370Z 08-10-2009 02:46 PM

The one paint flaw I found is on the roof of the drivers side about an inch form the windshield. It's definately a paint flaw, you can run your fingers over it and not feel anything and upon closer inspection see it's under the clear coat.

DIGItonium 08-10-2009 10:40 PM

Holy cow! I thought I was the only one with the issue. My front left side corner did the same thing! I noticed it after pulling the bumper out to do headlight swaps, but I took pictures prior to doing removing my bumper and saw the paint chip was already there!

Valentino 08-11-2009 03:56 AM

I just checked. and i have no issue(only 200 miles on my car). but on both ends of the front bumper are pretty tight. i can hear it rubbing when i move them. on the rear bumper only the driver side is tight, passenger side is free.

Word for word what I have on the front left bumper.

Chupacabra 08-11-2009 02:44 PM

I got some bubbling of the paint on the rear bumper, drivers side, right in middle. and a paint chip on the rear driver quarter panel, although ill blame that on road debris.
