They make a perfect pair:

Do you have the 3GS? Does all of the connectivity work with the Z? I have heard that some have had issues viewing their music library on the navi screen and or receiving calls via bluetooth.

Beautiful. Park required I assume.

I haven't tried that yet. Unfortunately I'm having problems due to the charging issue. Since my 3G won't charge due to lack of firewire chip set it keeps randomly disconnecting. I've been looking for a firewire to usb adapter, is that what you're using?

How are you outputting video from the 3gs? I'm assuming you have to have a dock connector to analog connectors (yellow for video, red/white for audio)?

Actually I'm not using any charger. I thought about buying the car charger to USB but with the 3GS it only takes about 20% of the battery life to watch an entire movie.

I could use the car to USB charger along side the apple a/v cable, I think I will probably go this route.

wait, you still haven't answered how you are doing this? you can output video from the iphone straight to the headunit? using just the standard ipod/iphone usb connector to the car?

tbonesteak 08-10-2009 12:36 AM

he got chuck norris to do it.

angina 08-10-2009 12:42 AM

thanks. welcome to last year.

but just want to know from the original poster if the headunit can accept ipod video out of the box, and whether the e-brake has to be engaged or not...

Iphone to a/v unit to the a/v plugs in the console. Theres a spot to run a charger there as well if you want. I haven't tried this while driving yet. I would imagine the video would be disabled but you would still hear the audio until you stopped again.

what do you mean a/v unit? Do you mean to the iphone connector, which is connected to the console?

Yes the iPhone connector, it connects to the a/v inside the console behind the parking break.

Remove the park sensor wire into the HU and you will be good to go man!

angina 08-11-2009 04:33 PM

hey shabarivas, have you tried that, or seen any how-to documents on removing the park sensor for the HU?

this would be great!
