A sports car to me must be a coupe, whether it has a backseat or not, and NOT FWD. With that said, I've owned 3 sports cars:

1996 300ZX Turbo
2008 Nissan 350Z
2013 Nissan 370Z

Ya know, i did some math (hard to believe), and there seems to be a 20 year gap in sportyness here... :stirthepot:

LOL, thanks. I've owned/driven nothing but Z's when it comes to my sports cars. I should have added that when I was dating my wife, she bought an '83 280-ZX (I had my '83 at the time). That made her an instant keeper.

Well, since I've only been driving 16 years... Had the Firebird (third car) when I was 17. Got the Stealth when I was 19 (5th car). Drove beaters for awhile since I was going to college and saving my pennies. Then a Caddy. Then an Acura. And now the Z.

The way I see it, raising kids and taking care of your family takes you to a less sporty place. There's only so muich you can do with a minivan and an SUV. :shakes head:

1997 Nissan 240SX - At 2800 lbs it was the lightest car I ever owned also had the lowest seating position of any sporty car I've driven. Fun car to drive, but not very fast.

2002 Camaro Z28 - Fast car, but had the softest suspension I have experienced, and by far the worst handling car I have ever driven. Bounced like an old mattress over most road bumps. Impossible to regain control once traction lost due to body motions and loose springs/shocks. Monsoon stereos are great when new. Differential never worked right either.

2003 Hyundai Tiburon GTV6 - Not very fast, and did not handle very well. Crappy all around, but no quality issues.

2005 350Z Touring Roadster - Faster than the Tiburon, but did not provide the spine compressing acceleration of the Z28. Handled very well, but body was noticeably less rigid with the top down. Brakes suffered from very bad fade. Great interior.

2006 Corvette 3LT Z51 Coupe - Great car all around. Handled great and accelerated like a rocket launcher. Had many quality issues and was constantly in the shop. Still loved the car. Poor Bose stereo. Interior crappy and cheap.

1999 Firebird Formula - All the acceleration of the Z28 and none of the handling issues. Did not handle as well as the 350Z or the corvette. Brakes are weak and take a lot of effort. Quicker off the line response than the Corvette due to performance axle ratio, not nearly as fast after that. Live axle causes side step motion over larger road bumps. Best engine sound of all cars I have owned.

2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Spyder - Sluggish acceleration, decent suspension hindered by narrow all season tires. Great quality. Decent interior.

2012 Corvette 1LT Coupe - Fastest car I have owned. Did not handle as well at the Z51 corvette or the 350Z. Leaned more in turns than the Pontiac Firebird, but held Gs better. Steering was improved vastly from 2006. Added power from LS3 + sport exhaust combined with base tires caused the TCS to choke the engine almost every time I hit the gas. Interior much better than 2006 Corvette. Quality issues such as vibrations and rattles everywhere.

2013 370Z Nismo - Not nearly as fast as the corvettes, does not have the off the line torque of the Z28 or Firebird, but is overall faster once it revs up. Best handling car I have ever owned. Steering is perfect. Interior is the best I have driven. Car feels solid and stable, but could be lighter. First manual car I have owned all others were auto. Manual is much more fun to drive, but a good sport automatic is faster.

Started small with a 1982 Fiat Spider, was my first car, cheap used convertible. It was a lot of fun, but it broke down all the time.

I then sort of took over my dad's 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE. With the v6, that little deathtrap really flew.

I then went a long time without a sports car, occasionally stealing rides in my dad's Miata. But I went the practical route with my first car after getting a real job.

So my first sports car I ever owned was my 2010 370z, back in 2010. Loved that car for the three years I owned it, but crashed it :(

Replaced it with a used Z06, which is like my old Z turned up to 11. I'm head over heels for the chevy.

But I've loved all of those cars.
